Does anyone else watch this? I love it. I have been watching since 06 although there aren't very many episodes. love the underlying themes, its funny its on the Disney channel but it isn't a kid's cartoon or at least its for very mature children.

I got into it with my now 5 year old a while back, the story is great, characters are well tought out(Toph is our favorite) and Sokka's comedic relief always delivers. We have all the 3 books on DVD's I still watch the reruns now and then. Sad to say tough the movie was vomit. My son literaly wanted to walk out about 15 minutes into the movie.

One of the best Cartoons ever made.

Can't wait for the sequel series "The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra". Takes place 70 something years in the future; should be good.

I remember a lot of waiting. Waiting for book 3, and then the random spacing of all the episodes in that book.

Good research, lots of respect to the cultures each kingdom was derived from, topped off with age appropriate humor that still reaches older audiences. This generation's Gargoyles I guess?

I read about 6-7 months back that they will make a new series, it will be An's daughter or grand daughter that will be the Avatar....

It's good. I was shocked that it was a ground-up Cartoon Network production because it looks like an Asian import.

Watched all the episodes on netflix several months back. I was hooked. My brother was watching an episode, and I caught a bit of it. The rest was history. Great show

    +1

I may watch it over again, it's that good and entertaining. It's pretty much an epic, toned down for kids, but all the themes are there.

I never liked, this started right when I started to phase out of cartoons so that might have something to do with this. Is it really on disney? I remember it being on Nickeloden, and this does seem a little too violent for disney channel.

I had heard rave reviews so I gave it a shot. It was a bit too kid oriented for my taste, I couldn't get past more than 3 or 4 episodes. I guess that is why the movie didn't bother me, it was quite a bit darker than what I saw of the show.

    Yea I greatly enjoyed it.

They are making a spin off called Korra, originally planned to air this November but it seems has been pushed off to 2012

The movie sucked but I didn't let it bother me either. Perhaps I had spent a lot of time pre-emptively numbing myself to the hope that M. Night wouldn't taint it. I disagree completely that it was "darker". No humor, no real bending, but calling it "darker" would be like saying "It's not better or worse, it's 'different.'" In this case the move definitely was not good.

I've pretty much stopped watching cartoons since mid high school, with the exception of few good anime movies and Avatar was another of those exceptions.

I think I finished the whole 3 books in like a week. Good stuff.

As for the movie, 5 words: M Night Shmalaysiaman.

It gets much darker when you get beyond the first season. I think this was by design when they titled the books: Water, Earth, Fire. Each time he was learning a new bending ability but it also set the tone of each season. Some of the stuff they write in the show I don't think the kids that watch really understand. It's extremely well done. Haven't watched a Cartoon this good since Justice League Unlimited.

I don't know... Naruto had a strong start but suffers from having a bazillion characters and story lines that are introduced, but don't give much back story before they are pushed back into obscurity. After 5 years and almost 200 episodes I'm still asking questions about character family tree's and clans. The animation isn't as good too. After the time skip you can tell they were cutting costs (some fights just kept looping) even though it is one of the most popular Animes in the world; at least Avatar was consistent.

Really high on this cartoon! But I expected greatness from the makers of Samurai Jack. Even though Titan has a great story line and some of the best animation on American TV today, lesser shows like Ben 10 and Generator Rex will garner all the pub because of their simplicity.

Avengers: Earths Mightiest Heroes is a good one too.

I didn't like it at first, but it grew on me. End of season 1 is when it gets real good. And amazing animation on the fight scenes. Only thing I don't like is that the humor itself is hit or miss (and a bit too much slapstick).

I need to get caught up on season 3. Watched most of it including the finale, but need to still see some other episodes.

I think the finale is probably the most disappointing episode of the 3 books. I was expecting to see a huge battle of epic proportions between Ang and the fire lord, forcing Ang to use all 3 of the styles (wind, earth, fire). Instead it fell flat.

I think the Avatar state is too easy of a solution and should've been left out of the series.

    The finale

But that's exactly happened.....they delivered on the fight perfectly.

The thing you should be complaining about is the whole deal with the Lion Turtle and lolenergybending.

lol guess there shouldnt be any need of spoilering an old show. The Lion Turtle felt very deus ex machina, and Aang regaining avatar state at the end after supposedly losing it forever was wack. If only they gave the whole ending scenes a triumphant feel like when Toph learned how to bend metal.
