Did you have to manually snap it down? Maybe this guy failed to do so?

No, the operators pushed the bars down and checked them.

Come to think about it, the operator at the time did see a bit "special".

    I'm still a bit shocked.

I'm not trying to be racial, but I've never trusted carnies.

    man that sux...:( rip...

I ride roller coasters, but at six flags and stuff..some how I always don't feel as safe on these mom and pop ones...but from a safety standpoint, how does a guy fall out...i mean, isn't there a locking mechanism...

I rode that thing and never once felt fear for my life. The bar comes down and holds you in well enough considering you're never upside down or even sideways. I'm not sure how that guy even fell out, hopefully there was someone in the seat next to or around him that can shed some light on the situation. very sad though.

Doesnt look like the safest thing in the world. Here are a few pictures online I've found of it

Now that I see the pictures of the ride, I rode that with my friends son last year.

    Very jerky around turns iirc

I rode that thing with my 8-year old nephew after the KISS concert last week. Yeah, it's a little scarier than it looks and it does jerk around a lot, but never did I feel in danger of falling out. They strap you in just like any other roller coaster.

That thing has been at the rodeo for years and this is the first time anyone has ever fallen out. If it was unsafe, why didn't anyone else fall out? Why didn't the person sitting in the same car as him fall out? Makes you wonder if the guy was goofing around or something.

Thought and prayers to that family. What a horrible story.

I wonder which car he was sitting in. My 7 yr old and his friend rode by themselves in the front car of that ride 2 weeks ago. :(

I rode this ride called the Tango on Saturday. The second I got locked in I looked at my friends and asked out loud, “Why is there not back up seatbelt on us?” Then the ride started and it was fine at first. Then it got all loco and we are going around and upside down spinning in every way. I have never been scared by any ride but this one had me holding on for dear life. My wife who was watching from below said, "You were smiling and waving the first time you passed by and then from then on the three of you looked like you were holding on for dear life."

It is honestly the scariest ride I have ever been on. It ended and we all got off. Very disoriented. It was like I had a buzz but I had not drank anything that night yet. It took my friend 30 minutes to feel normal again. We all agreed that ride needs an extra belt. After the sad story about the man dying that may be my last carnival ride.

    This is Tango

I agree completely. Never liked carny rides. They've always seemed a little substandard to me.

I haven't ridden this particular ride, but I have ridden other versions of this ride other places. It does jerk and swing around those corners pretty quickly, but I have trouble imagining a scenario where he would fall out. Sad story. A terrible way to end the Rodeo.

Yeah, that one is pretty insane. Probably the scariest ride at the carnival, but I'm forced to ride it every year for fear of not looking like a wussy in front of my nieces and nephews, who have no fear whatsoever.

But again, no accidents in 30-something years. Do you really think the HLSR (is that the right acronym?) would put up with sub-standard carnival equipment?

This just makes my phobia of carnival rides even worse. I have no problem with rollercoasters at six flags, but theres just something about those carnival rides that makes me think that if I ride them I'm gonna die a horrible death.

I hate carnival rides. I ride them, but I hate them all since most of them are the ones that make you dizzy.
