Exactly is could be both Houston and Memphis get in the playoffs. The Hornets have a tougher schedule. Can't get carried away though must take each game as a playoff game and take care of business.
I like that Dallas game at the end. Hopefully Dallas has their seed locked in and they'll rest their starters.
I dont think they will. They'll probably fight the Lakers for the #2 seed until the end of the season.
great thread. thanks. if our bench continues to improve especially our back up PG, I think we will be in good shape. Kyle can't do it all for us.
I agree. New Orleans is the vulnerable team. They have the toughest schedule, they're a shaky team anyway, and we have a head-to-head with them to help us control our destiny. As for the Dallas game, I expect that they will be fighting with the Lakers for the #2 seed for awhile, but they'll have lost it by the second-to-last game of the season. Lakers are ginning up for the playoffs and the Mavs are sputtering a bit. I think they will be solidly #3 by the time they play us. In the next couple of games, they're going to be playing some scrappy teams still hoping to get into the playoffs and have to face off with the Lakers.
I don't like it as much, Dallas has screwed us in the past. Besides, it's a double edged sword because Dallas' last game is against New Orleans. Speaking of NOLA, yes they have a brutal schedule and they haven't been as sharp lately but we should forget about them. Why? because with only 11 games to go, we're virtually 4 games behind the Hornets and only 1 game and a half behind the Grizzlies. If by the end of the season we're tied with Memphis then you can bask in success, but if instead we're tied with NOLA (and Memphis is better), then you can curse away because no matter what, NOLA owns the tiebreaker.
The way the Lakers are playing though I could see them up on dallas b 2.5 by the time we play them. Lakers are 12-1 right now since break.
Every time I look over a team's schedule in this case Houston and Memphis, I know two things are certain. You are going to lose a game or two that you should win; and you are going to win a game or two you should lose. i.e. Houston looses to the Suns but beats the crap out of Boston. So, we have to continue to take it a game at a time per the sports cliche.
Nooo Spurs almost always sit their players in the end. They often rotate the sitting by having Manu out one game, Tony out another game, and Duncan maybe out more games than that.
How about first team to 8 wins... well wins. Unless the Hornets drop fast. The Rockets just need to focus on winning every single game, and take out teams like Sac early. *Im highlighting the game against the Hornets though, that could be the difference maker right there.
Hornets would have to utterly collapse in order for us to get up with them. They are certainly not more vulnerable than the Grizzlies.
It's going to be tough and very close .....That said, I see us barely making it. And whoever said that Pops would rather face Memphis than us is wrong. The Grizz have size and we don't...We are an easier matchup for SA in my mind. Still....Go Rockets!
True, but I guess we are still the better team of the two. Plus we have better momentum. I see us taking care of GS @ home. Then probably lose to Miami... but take care of NJ and PHI on the road. They will go 2-1 on that trip.
The Rockets are not that far behind the Hornets or the Blazers. They might be more vulnerable than the Grizzlies because of their schedules. This could get real interesting. In reality, positions 6,7 and 8 are up for grabs.
8-3 is what I say the Rockets need to finish to get into the Playoffs. At Philly and At New Orleans aren't going to be easy. Hopefully the Rockets can steal some, if not all, the games against Miami, SA and Dallas.
Houston AND Memphis for playoffs.. if we make the playoffs, we'll not only MAKE THE PLAYOFFS, but we'll get to swap with the sinking titanic that is the New York Knicks. our record is currently better. i expect it to stay that way. we just got to make the playoffs. as for Memphis, we need them to make the playoffs so that we may have their pick, which is otherwise lottery-protected. a perfect scenario for the Rockets would be: Rockets making the playoffs (naturally) Knicks perpetual incompetence and suckage Memphis sneaks in to the playoffs as well Phoenix also making the playoffs so that we get their pick and not Orlando's (this is highly unlikely, most likely only one of Houston, Memphis, and Phoenix will make it, though this would be most ideal) i think New Orleans is the team to really root against. but yeah, let's jump Memphis first.
