Bosh defends teargate, didnt like Kobe's shootaround among other things.

[rquoter] Chris Bosh joined 790 the Ticket in Miami on the Dan LeBatard Showto discuss the low point in Miami’s struggles, why the team is so bad in critical situations, whether he has confidence in his teammates, former players criticizing the Heat, Crygate 2011 and Kobe Bryant taking 90 minutes after a game to shoot on Miami’s court.
What was the low point in Miami’s recent struggles?:

“I think the low point for us is, I guess, the Chicago loss, probably, and then the Portland loss was just another part of it. The thing about the Chicago loss was that we had every chance in the world to win that game and then it came down to one missed box out and it cost us that game. We fought so hard just to get out of that streak … and every time it was close we just didn’t come out on top.”

Why is the team 1-for-18 in late-game critical situations?:

“We’re still coming together as a team. We’re still trying to figure out what plays work better for us. There’s not too many situations where you’re going to be in the last 10 seconds and need a shot. … You can’t practice that, you just have to experience that. … Everything’s a work in progress. I wish we could be 18-for-18, but that’s not the case.”

Was there a point where the team lost confidence in each other?:

“No, I didn’t feel like it was falling apart. For one, we all shared the same frustration, we all wanted to win. We all went out there and played hard, we just made mistakes. … When I look to my left and look to my right, all the guys feel the same way. … I know what the spirit and what the character of our guys are. The fact that we were pissed off and the fact that it did hurt us when we did lose, that shows a lot of character.”

What is the criticism that has hurt him the most?:

“It’s not the criticism that hurts me, it’s just kind of like when players say something, guys that used to be in the locker room and don’t play anymore, and they have these opinionated comments … it’s kind of strange. You were a player one day, too. … But at the same time, I don’t let stuff bother me. Being a skinny kid growing up in Dallas, Texas, it wasn’t easy to play basketball.”

Which players is he talking about there?:

“Anybody who is a former player. You can be opinionated, but when you get on the verge of being personal, it’s like, that’s enough.”

On the reaction around the league to Heat players crying in the locker room:

“Any player who says they haven’t cried over basketball, they’re lying. … It’s emotions. That don’t make you weak. It doesn’t make you weak as a man or as a player. That just shows how bad you want to win. It really doesn’t matter at the end of the day.”

On Kobe Bryant shooting for an extra 90 minutes on the Miami floor:

“I have no problem with guys wanting to get better, but if you think that any of us were going to be able to shoot on the Staples Center court for 90 minutes, you would be totally mistaken. I don’t think they should have allowed him to do that. … We should’ve shut the lights off.”

It's a classic b****move to turn off the lights when someone is practicing.

Doing something completely unnecessary just to piss someone off. If Bosh wants to send a message then do it on the court.

It takes three to shut the lights off in Miami.

It's a classic b****move to keep dozens or more people working for 90+ minutes after they should be heading home because you feel like shooting jumpers where the media will see you and write a hundred stories about it the next day. There was a private practice court where he could have been doing that if it was about anything other than attention.

I don't like Kobe myself, but if you think Bosh cared about people working in the arena for an extra 90 minutes then you're dead wrong.

Did Kobe do it for attention? Probably, tons of players announce to the world they're going for a practice after a loss, even Aaron Brooks.

Reposing the question as the writer asked --"Whether the Heat would have been better off keeping Beasley or Wright" -- I'll throw in the Daequan Cook's name too.

Lebron with 43 in 3 quarters, owning the Hawks.

Heat up by 30, playing against a good team in the Hawks.

Hawks are 39-30, so they are a pretty decent team.

Boston and Chicago both lost, heat closing in on the number 1-2 seed. Boston is looking quite old right now, and the Pacers are a team to watch in the finals.

There is no way the Heat are getting the #1 seed.

The Heat might end up #2 at best. The chances of (1) BOTH the Bulls and Celts finishing the season 10-4 or worse AND (2) the Heat winning 13 more in-a-row is very unlikely. I think the Celts lost part of their heart by trading Perkins and it's possible the Heat catch them. The Bulls: Forget it.

A couple of days ago, Wade publicly said he would welcome more rest leading up to the playoffs. The Heat don't sound like a team interested in burning themselves out in a vain run at the #1 seed.

Also, I suggest you don't read much into the beatdown of the Hawks. They have several no-show games this season. On the way to getting clobbered by 34 points, he Sixers led them 65-33 at halftime last month (in Atlanta).

the heat are playing much better as of late and it's due to the great ball movement and defense.

bron handling the ball less, screening more and bosh going to the basket. those 2 are huge. it's making their offense a whole lot more unpredictable.

secondly, they play better on the road. sure they will have to face both the bulls and celts if they don't get the first seed, but i think playing on the road is better for them. well, at least for lebron anyways.

Another nice win by Miami, which also keeps the trolls away.
Wade and Lebron are heating up for the playoffs, which is a good sign.

that's huge. if mike bibby plays extended minutes, their defense will be exposed. imagine him guarding rondo or rose, straight up laughable.

It seemed laughable when Chalmers was guarding them as well.

If Bibby has to play extended minutes, the Heat are toast. Chalmers isn't that good, but they need him to soak up minutes. Eddie House will also have to do a lot more than he is capable of.

    Let's wait on the MRI.

Bibby was going to be getting more min's anyway, and it means that Wade will have to play some PG, as well as Mike Miller helping out.
