"Best player" award would be ridiculously stupid.

It only encourages players to pat their own stats at the team's expense.

It went to David Robinson pretty much every year. If it was continued until today, LeBron would have probably like the last 5 or 6.

who says best player = best stats.

monta ellis' stats are pretty damn good and you don't see people talking about him as a top 10 player in this L.

defense is part of the equation also.

Yet your primarily premise for Rose not being MVP worthy is because of his inefficient stats no?

Most valuable player of the league? Well that is definitely not Charlie V

He is cancerous to his team as well as the entire league.

And please, If Steve Nash didn't deserve those MVP's please name some of your choices in those seasons.

that, and his lack of impact on the team's defense and rebounding, which are the main keys for the bulls' success.

like i said before, the bulls are #1 on defense and rebounding.

    and 20th on offense.

Or if you let players vote it, Kobe would win it every year.

Ok that explains it, F me for thinking he is actually trying to me a decent argument. Turns out just a bitter rant about something from 5 years ago..

To bad he's talking about an old award that existed based on stats, no need to bring up Kobe.

Do you think that formula is a better way to determine the MVP or do you like the current system of having a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters rank their MVP candidates from 1-5? Personally I'd like some kind 3 tier system of the formula, the players/coaches (they can't vote for their own players), and the sportswriters/broadcasters put together to make a master point chart where the highest player with the points is the MVP.

    But you are contradicting yourself.

You just said best players do not = to best stats.

And also Bulls are 16 in offensive efficiency, not 20th.

What does the team's defensive and rebounding efficiency have to do with Rose's case for MVP?

Lebron has two ALL-stars on his team yet his team is not even first in the league, that's a pretty nifty stat isn't it?

It has quite a lot to do with Rose's case for MVP. The Bulls win games because of their defense and rebounding. Rose does not contribute much to that, in fact he is one of the worst defensive players on the team.

Having said that, I don't have a problem with Rose winning the MVP, although I think Howard or Dirk would be better picks.

what? what does the team's defensive and rebounding efficiency have to do with Rose's case for MVP? without those 2 factors the bulls wouldn't be the #1 seed right now.

Replace Rose with Monta Ellis, and that team would pretty much have the same record.

Deng doesn't get enough credit for his defense.

Thibbs does not get enough credit making that entire group of role players play at the best level they can play. Great defensive system as well.

i actually agree with this sentiment. i wouldn't agree with it until i saw a lot of bulls games within the past month and a half.

you put monta ellis on this team and this team would still be a top 3 team in the east.

i have never seen a 2nd unit that simply outscores opponents by their defense. it's freakin' ridiculous how much better the 2nd unit is defensively compared to the first even with noah in the game. and the first unit is already good with noah, deng, and bogans.

Miami is 5th in defense and 4th in offense. Without those two factors the Heat wouldn't be chasing the top seed right now.

yea, and lebron is the most efficient offensive player in the L, and one of the best defenders in the L. he actually plays a HUGE part with both of those stats, INCLUDING DEFENSE.

rose plays a very little part in their top-rated defense.
