Good point. In that case, I hope the team has made clear to Chuck that they hope he dies as a Rocket and Morey and Les Alexander plan on spending the first minutes of free agency (whenever that is, given the likely lockoutt) in Chuck's house.

When it comes to coaches you can't really say there is nobody better on the open market. Players are constantly being evaluated and you can make that assertion with Chuck if you want...but no one knows what a young coach or non-veteran head coach could mesh and be great with this team.

    We have no clue.

Chuck Hayes is the hardest working horse the Rockets have ever had. I'm still amazed how he shuts down big centers and PFs like Garnett, it's crazy. He should retire a Rocket and be a 15-20 min defensive specialist guy off the bench for the next few years.

Since the Rockets are rebuilding it's best we get a new coach. Adelman has done a great job and despite how he can all drive us crazy, he's done a historical job. 22 game winning streak, showing faith in young guys, not letting T-mac know who's boss, getting a winning record with a mediocre team last year and probably this year. I am dissapointed in Alexander though, it looks like the parting of Adelman and the Rockets is not going to be good.

Now u see why no extension policy is dumb. I'm sure hayes was cheaper 4 months ago, but now, why would he sign anything. The rox have zero leverage and I highly doubt chuck will take less to stay when guys like collison and foster are making at least 6m per. Maxiel and turiaf are make double of what he is making.

In regards to rick, its going to be a control issue and everyone in this league knows adelman is a high end coach. There will be managements willing to give rick final say over players and the money he deserves. I mean, coaches will get fired to make room for adelman.

See Post #39 of this thread. Even before the season, Chuck wouldn't have agreed to sign the max extension possible under the current CBA rules. Coming off a year where he started all season, he would have gladly taken his chances in free agency, even under the new CBA.

And I'm close to finalizing your new sig, so stay tuned. ;)

I read it, but chuck wasnt coming off a rookie deal I dont think. This is his 2nd contract right? He was undrafted, cut brought back and then signed a contract before he signed this deal thats expiring right?

I think you need to read it again.

EXCEPT for players coming off of rookie scale contracts, no extensions can pay a player more than 110.5% of his current salary. Since Chuck is NOT coming off a rookie scale contract (he's had multiple contracts and was obviously never a first round pick), that puts his max starting salary under an extension at about $2.2M.

    Reading comprehension. It's fundamental.

He started because we don't have a center, and if next year he continues starting, then this team will continue sucking and won't be relevant for another year.

Hayes needs to be signed for 3 mil max and be at most the backup center. I would prefer he is just used for situational defensive plays.

There is this Myth that proffesional baketball is all about business .. But there's a human factor to it and if you keep ignoring it evantually it well bite you and you'll grow into that reaputation ..

This is Morey Biggest and only flaw ..

Rick is a HOF fame coach and the fact that a portion of clutchfans want him out is ridiculios .. Coaches dont grow on trees and not all assistants turn head coaches are gonna Tim Thibedous ..
