LOL! Funny thread. If I would have done this people would have backtracked and said they were right anyways. OP pulled it off nicely. Patterson, Budinger, and Lowry are all playing real well since the trades and it shows in our record.

I have never thought Lowry was starter material. I think the jury is still out. Let's see if this incredible hot streak plays out or if is the real deal. If he keeps playing and SHOOTING like he is now, then I was wrong.

Forget this stuff. We got a playoff spot to chase after. We should be bringing back up the "I hate the Jazz" threads.

This thread is very necessary, despite the effort of the Lowry supporters to keep the Lowry/Brooks argument civil, eventually the AB supporters always managed to turn the debate into a "you just don't know basketball/the system/lack BBIQ".

This incredible hot streak has lasted for the better part of the season. It doesn't make sense to call it a hot streak any longer.

He's a younger player who has improved his shooting. It happens.

Nah, if you're one of the people that think Jordan Hill is going to be great, then you don't know basketball.:)

2009/2010 season counting only games with houston

    Brooks

    minutes - 2919
    fg% - 43.2 / 3p% - 39.8
    Offensive Win Share - 3.9
    Deffensive Win Share - 1.6
    Total Win Share = 5.5
    Win Share/48 = 0.091

    Lowry

    minutes - 1651
    fg% - 39.7 / 3p% - 27.2
    OWS - 2.9
    DWS - 1.4
    Total Win Share = 4.3
    Win Share/48 = 0.126

The point is that Lowry has always been the player that contributed more to winning even though his shooting was pretty bad. And still people banged there chests saying AB was better. That is why this thread is necessary. Not that people were wrong, but in the presence of so much evidence that they were wrong, they continued to think they were right.

I was actually thinking about doing this about Budinger but he beat me to it on Lowry.

For the team's sake, I hope you are right. I don't have the numbers, but my impression that he is shooting incredibly well since the All Star break.

Your impression is wrong. Lowry is a top ten point guard in today's NBA.. it's time to get on board.

I was a big Kyle Lowry-should-start fan last year and the beginning of this year, but even I have to laugh at the people who claim they knew he would do this all along. Nobody saw him improving his 3PT% to ~38% -- that is incredible.

I wouldn't say I knew Lowry would be as good as he has been, but I liked that he played defense, and we had too many minutes going to players that didn't. Or at least not well.

I love this thread. I think it's good to be held accountable for the positions you take. I'm sure somewhere on this board you can find me talking about how Marcus Fizer was going to be the next Charles Barkley or how Eddie Griffin (rip) was going to be a superstar. Sometimes I'm not just wrong, but fantastically wrong. However, in this particular case, I have always LOVED Lowry. I have always thought he was the better all around point guard - and I actually felt that way having never considered he could develop his jumper. Lowry is better now than I ever thought he could be.

Oh, and the idea that you must hate Brooks if you believe in Lowry is ridiculous. Up until Brooks walked out on the Rockets I didn't ever have a negative word to say about him. I just thought Lowry was better. I'll still be rooting for Brooks with other teams. I think over all his time with us was great.

Anyhow, my only complaint on this thread is that I'm not quoted as a Lowry supporter but that may be my fault. I started avoiding those threads early on because I didn't like how it quickly devolved to a point in which it wasn't enough to be pro-Lowry. You had to be anti-Brooks. Or vice versa.

    Lowry's monthly splits this season:

    MON | FG% | 3P% | FT% | RPG | APG | SPG | PPG

    Nov | .400 | .240 | .686 | 4.1 | 6.7 | 1.7 | 8.8
    Dec | .448 | .466 | .698 | 3.9 | 7.6 | 2.3 | 12.8
    Jan | .407 | .310 | .773 | 3.6 | 5.6 | 0.8 | 12.8
    Feb | .435 | .377 | .720 | 3.7 | 5.6 | 1.1 | 13.7
    Mar | .484 | .444 | .828 | 4.7 | 7.7 | 1.0 | 19.6

Those are some pretty gawdy numbers in March.

Love the month to month improvements.

According to my conservative estimate, keeping this trajectory he should be averaging 30PPG 15APG right in time for the finals.

He was shooting incredibly well in December around 35-40%, without looking.

There is no way for anyone to project this type of improvement in shooting. Plenty of us have argued that shooting is the easiest area to improve, that Lowry has good form and his %s should rise gradually in time. That is not what is happening.

Prior to last year he has never taken more than 2 3P a game. Last year he averaged exactly 2. And we know the %s.

For the past 2 months he is averaging above SIX 3PT a game. Most are impressed by his %s but to me it is the combination of volume and accuracy that is quite shocking to be honest.

You don't go from an occasional 3 a game on poor %s to a full fledged 3PT bomber just from one off season of hard work. This is why I now think he's actually ALWAYS been a very good 3PT shooter, but just haven't been able to show it in games. The only change this season is he is starting, which gave him the confidence to launch them without looking behind his shoulder. This is also why his shooting and overall game is at even another level since Brooks was traded and the team was completely handed to him.

What I've learned this season is how much confidence can affect a player. How much it can elevate one- Lowry. And how much it can destroy one- Brooks. The difference between the two is when Lowry lacked confidence in his shot, he still played all out and effected the game in other ways. When Brooks lost his confidence, he didn't have much else to back up his game.

I think several players said (not jokingly) that Kyle Lowry has been the best practice shooter on the team.

I also noticed that he is usually the one taking the last shot before halftime or before the end of a quarter, not Kevin Martin.
