The major story here is that the nuggets are playing well without Melo and the Knicks aren't playing that great with him.

It's possible that with what the Knicks gave up, the nuggets received greater overall talent. Still, the Knicks are better in the long run because it's much easier to draft and acquire competent role players than it is to find a player like Carmelo Anthony, who was clearly the best player in that trade.

Nuggets fans and the much larger group of Melo haters will only be able to have fun with this for so long.

I'll add that a couple of days ago Melo complained D'Antoni's defensive schemes were confusing and needed to be simplified. http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/knicks/bawl_of_confusion_0lmKPZTdmcqT50j6p03xvK?CMP=OTC-rss&FEEDNAME=

Melo to the D'Antoni Knicks is a match made in heaven, right? They are a "dangerous" team that might beat Miami in the first round or, at least, take them to 7 games.

    Yeah right.

The Knicks are 6-6 since the trade. The +/- in 344 minutes of Melo and Amare on the floor together is a grand total of +1. At this rate, the Sixers might push them down to the 7th seed.

Can't even face the scrutiny after barely 10 games.

rather than facing a music about a bad game, he now also has to face the music about that stunt he pulled.

he will learn that last thing he wants to do is give the ny media anything extra to write about. next time he will just answer a few questions.

D'Antoni made a valid point when he said some Knicks fans needed to take Prozac.

I think the road win in Miami on national TV raised expectations of some fans way too high and reality hasn't settled in yet. Their roster needs some serious work over the summer and I don't think they have the right coach.

Not a Nuggets fan, but I wish they would talk about how well Denver is playing as much as they talked about Melo going to NY.

I wear my sunglasses at night.....so I can, so I can, avoid the headlines...Lala has got a hold of me.

Actually, they already did. Sixers are a half game ahead of them. Not sure that will last to the playoffs though.

Obviously it's a completely different situation, but when they teamed, I couldn't help but think about the Melo-Iverson duo. Obviously, Stoudamire can work better with Melo than Iverson, but those Nuggets did have players like Camby and Nene, while the Nuggets don't have a good center.

bad comparison. denver got a lot of talent back, and they're finally using nene.

melo did lead the nuggets to the playoffs every year he's been in the L, which you can't say about carmelo.

i love how the media loves to pounce on every damn little thing.

didn't the heat go 9-8 earlier this year? the knicks are 6-6. sure they won't be great this year (or at least until they fix their D), but give them some damn time. inconsistencies are expected.

and clutchfans seem to hate stars for some reason. just b/c we don't have one.

Carmelo is a cancer. A dumb selfish player who loves to shoot and......not much else really.

Let NY have fun with him and enjoy the show. I have already ordered plenty of popcorn from amazon.com

I think the Knicks will be fine come playoff time. They just need some more games to get it together between Melo and STAT.

The Knicks will be better off in the long run, but that is because there are only 5 players on the court at a time so consolidating talent to one player makes sense. However, the new CBA and a hard cap would really screw them over.

He wanted all the lights on him and now he has got it. And now he cant handle it. What a shame!

Stat has been calling him out indirectly for ball hogging. Stat keeps saying how the new comers have to buy into D'Antonis ball movement style. He said that it works and the proof is the success they had beofre the trade. Ouch!!!

And then Melo says the defensive schemes are too tough. Melo must really suck at playing/understading defense if he thinks D'Antonis defensive schemes are tough.

Ha Ha fun times ahead for the Knicks.

LOL all the Knicks gave up is their pg, Wilson Chandler, Timoffee Mohzgov and picks in the trade. Aside from Wilson Chandler, most of the "value" is unrealized as the picks and Timoffee aren't really ready to contribute just yet. The fact is Melo is an overrated POS and is nowhere near superstar status. Even if you argue that he's currently better than CHandler (debatable IMHO), the fact is Melo would be tying up around 40% of NY's cap room by himself, so he should be producing at least Dirk-like numbers to be worth getting. To be quite honest, I have no idea what DM was thinking when he offered to rent Melo for a couple of months.

P.S. BTW Toney Douglas has outplayed Melo in virtually every NY game. Enjoy paying him 20M a year for the next half decade Knicks fans

P.P.S. Where's his closing skillz now, huh? If KM ever reads clutchfans he's probably saying "Melo, how's my ass taste" right about now....
