PWN3D. DaDakota's avg. posts/day must be taking a serious hit now that he's scurried off in to the shadows out of shame from his attention-whoring tendencies of the recent past. He was hypocritical and just down right obnoxious, not to mention he hijacked 3/4ths of the threads in the GARM. He and larsv8 were 2 of Brooks' staunchest supporters, and now look like complete fools after the condescending remarks they laid down on folks around here.
I'm not exactly sure, but I haven't seen him around here in what seems like a month or two. I think he was banned for a short period of time, but has stayed away from the board in order to avoid conflict... he was constantly involved in arguments due to his prolific posting habits.
good thread, dude. people who criticised Lowry should just take it and eat the humble pie, we all make mistakes, just be glad we have a solid starting PG now and he's still improving. while brooks was good but i just hated it when he dribble and hog the ball. he had a good play last season but teams have scouted him and they know wat to do with him but to be fair to him, the ankle injury early in the season made his situation worse. i still appreciate what brooks did the past 2-3 seasons but Lowry is the true PG who knows how to control the game, brooks is more of a SG in a PG body. and its quite telling when Brooksball even commented that Lowry should start over Brooks, what happen to Brooksball btw? i thought he's one of the better poster...except for the time he said we couldnt make the playoffs and we did but respect him for eating the humble pie, i suggest y'all who we critical of Lowry do the same, there's no shame in admitting mistake, we are only humans, most important thing is, Rockets is on a roll now....
Some of the remarks in the threads that I read were embarrassing to read. It was really difficult to choose what to put in this post, because there was so much hate for the suggestion that Lowry was the best fit for this team. I love the fact that Choujie and Brooksball, along with a few others, stayed so even tempered and logical, while the few that you mentioned were beyond snide...
DD was getting proved wrong left and right in arguments so he disappeared to avoid further humiliation. Think he may post regularly at SpursTalk now, he was last seen bashing K-Mart and the Rox management (for trading AB).
Brooks was the league leader in 3pt shots made and became only the 6th player to have at least 200-3pts and 400 assist in a single season. His fg, 3p and ft% percentages were all better and he averaged 7ppg more than lowry. Lowry is averaging 1 more assist and 1.6 more rebounds a game. Brooks winning the MIP wasn't a mistake. Don't be so quick to forget how good Brooks was last year....
Awesome thread. Its about time. You know there is still honor in defeat as long as you go out gracefully. But to keep insisting your failed point time after time is just humiliating. Once again, nice thread.
What? Developed a 3 point shot? Obviously Lowry had the shot but was too busy trying to do what PGs are supposed to do and make plays by taking the ball to the rim. Now that he has the floor time and defenders backed off he can effectively and efficiently hit that shot. This thread is much needed. I'm tired of all the guys that belittle other posters cause they have a billion more posts saying te exact same thing. If you guys didn't get the fact that Lowry was the PG of the future obviously Morey did cause he signed him to a multi-year contract. *exhale* thanks I needed to get that out.
Give Lowry an entire year at the helm and THEN let's measure those stats to each other. This is coming from a guy that loved Brooks also BTW.
you know i've been in the Lowry should start camp for a while now I went even so far as saying that Morey made the trade for Lowry with him in mind to be the starter last year, but Brooks became the starter in the 08-09 season after the trade (rightfully so cant expect a new player to come in and be a starting PG for a team unless they are Deron Williams, Paul etc) and Adelman as we all know is loyal to his players to a fault (ex: Brooks playing way more minutes than he deserved this season after coming back from injury) Glad to see others coming around, Lowry developing his jumper was a huge thing for him of course we all can see that its not really a hot streak anymore and that his jumper is now a legit improvement due to all his hard work over the summer even though DD kept touting about how he came into camp "fat"...at least we've seen development from Lowry we have not seen Brooks add anything to his game (MIP does not mean necessarily he improved his all around game he scored a lot more for sure but it wasnt like he started scoring because of a new found post game for example it was the same type of scoring he did all his career at oregon) Lowry is a starter and is a bargain at the MLE something that I said last summer was that if the team matched quickly they probably felt it was a great value deal and sure enough with his improved play he is a bargain at that price The one thing I am glad is that he really isnt being mentioned as a MIP candidate the way brooks was last year, that MIP award is like the kiss of death in the nba as for DD not sure what exactly happened to him but I refuse to believe that the guy is away from this board voluntarily, he's never shown the will power to not post at least 10 times in most every thread and then all of a sudden he stops posting for weeks, especially when 1) one of his "boys" Bud is starting to play the best ball of the season and more importantly b) Brooks the guy he was crusading as the 'alpha dog' real starter etc etc was traded. he certainly would have had some sort of comment about how management was making a huge mistake and that good teams dont trade away "talent" like brooks. so imo i think he may have been banned, personally i dont miss him at all the board has been far less cluttered in the last month
I remember getting labeled a "Brooks hater" and accused of "not knowing basketball" because I would praise Lowry and criticize Brooks. Good thread. Everyone is wrong sometimes, but the condescension of some of the pro-Brooks people was unbelievably annoying. They were SO SURE they were right and couldn't see the pro-Lowry camp's point of view. I will say though, that I never thought Lowry would be this good. He has greatly exceeded my expectations.
We've all been wrong before on something. Even Clutch (who really wanted Mike James at the time). Why the need to rub it in DD's face who might not have the same opportunity to respond? That being said, I'd like to quote my post from last year . I'm just happy Lowry is playing so well, and that the team is playing well. No need for chest-thumping and "I told you so".
I think the this thread is pretty childish but, man, Lowry did surprise the hell out of me. I wasn't a totally crazy Brooks dick rider (not that much I think), though I am happy that Lowry is pretty much showing how much better he is than Brooks right now...in my opinion. He's making me quickly forget about Brooks these days, especially after all the struggling he did, still struggling. And tonight, who needed Aaron help to kill the Celtics? Pfffftttt...over at half time. Not bashing him or anything, just saying. Although...where the hell is that thread bashing Lowry's shooting? "Lowry couldnt hit the side of barn unless he ran into it?" Or something like that. Funny at the time but I'm sure the way he's playing now he put that to **** to rest. lol
Lowry always had an advantage over Brooks. Most of the great PGs today don't really have that good of a jumpshot. I just can't believe what some of the people would say about Lowry. Brooks is a good player but Lowry will always have an edge over him. Why? Well mainly because he doesn't have to rely on his jumpshot as much as Brooks. With Brooks, when his shoot isn't falling, theres really nothing else he can do. Plus on top of that, he often gets frustrated easily which throws his game off even more. Lowry on the other hand can get to the line a lot better than Brooks can because he loves contact. Kyle Lowry has a good size for a 6 foot PG. He big and strong for a PG so he is able to go toe to toe with all the PGs in the league. Theres no PG in the league that can abuse Kyle Lowry like he do to Brooks simply because Kyle is bigger and stronger. Even though Kyle Lowry is a little chunky, he is incredibly fast. He plays good defense, grab rebounds, make good plays and passes, control the tempo, etc. While Brooks shooting is more superior, Kyle Lowry's all around game will always put him on top of Brooks. I always knew Lowry has good potential in him since he was playing for Villanova. The kid is relentless. A trait you don't find in many PGs nowadays. The way he plays and how he never gives up no matter what the circumstances is; makes him a special player. Its harder to replace Kyle Lowry than Brooks. Its hard to find a PG that can defend, rebound, assist, plays with heart and intensity, changes the tempo etc.
By the way, I am happy Rockets went with Lowry's path and not Brooks. But with the way Brooks is struggling, even after the trade, its starting to concern me. That game against Houston when Brooks was starting, he was downright horrible. I really wished he did well against Rockets in Houston. I wish the best of luck to him and his success in PHX. But he has been struggling so much. I just can't believe he went from MIP one year and fell off this much right afterwards. Even though he's still somewhat young, this is a major concern for Aaron. I just hope he gets his things together and start playing well again because The NBA can be harsh and unforgiving and if he don't pick his game back up, we may not see Brooks being in the Nba in the next few seasons.
Ok...I'll say right now that he wont reach the height Brooks did overall. He has been the starter since 5 games into the season though.... but who knows, we'll see....
Kyle Lowry might not be better than Aaron Brooks, but the Rockets are better when he is playing, always have been. Forsooth, This is NOT a Lowry/Brooks thread. This is a thread for organized crow eating...
