Potential? So the recent ass whoopings he's been handing out aren't good enough to say he is already one of the best out there and definitely the best in his weight class. I personally feel as if he can beat Montiel. I'm going to predict that's gonna be fight of the year next year. And it has to happen in order for Donaire to move up and fight Gamboa or Juanma. Not sure he would get that shot right away. He would have to move up 2 weight classes and the featherweight division has some talent. Escobedo, Luevano, Jhonny Gonzalez, Caballero, Ponce De Leon... plus of course Gamboa and Juanma. Donaire is the ****! Also Darchynian still wants a rematch.
Yes he's got potential to be like Manny, that's what the context of the discussion was about. But he's not Manny yet. But he can be, I'm just doubtful if he's got the right people in his corner.
**** being like Manny. Did he ever say he wanted to be like Manny? Sometimes you Manny fans scare me. You make Manny sound like hes the Messiah or something. Like everyone strives to be like him. Donaire can actually box, he actually has SKILL.
If the fight doesn't happen, its because Bob Arum's money hungry ass wants the fight with the biggest draw. He believes its Mosley . If it was up to Pac, he'd fight Marquez or Berto. But I think Manny beats Berto. Berto has never really been tested. I want to see Berto take on Mosley as originally planned and possibly Cotto. If he gets past them, he gets a shot at Manny.
Agreed. Although I think Manny would have the hardest time with Berto. Berto CAN counter punch, he is fast and has power. He is slick, something that Manny hasn't had to deal with. His last 5 opponents have all been stationary opponents with minimal defense. Except Clottey who is all defense and nothing else, but not slick or fast. Berto's conditioning has always been in question but the kid has heart and all the right tools to be elite. Berto is a smart fighter, he just needs experience. With the right experience, I think he could beat Pac. If they fight... Manny's work rate is going to be the deciding factor. Berto may not be able to deal with it in the later rounds. Mosley will get killed by both Berto and Pac. Marquez doesn't stand a chance at 147.

Marquez needs to fight Soto on a card that includes another big fight and stop pinning for Pac. That fight would be amazing. Besides, I think that Pac is starting to lose his mojo. I wish pac would come down in weight because it makes for better fighting, this routine of pitting speed against stuck in the mudd power, is getting old with me.
The original discussion was whether Nonito is the number one filipno fighter instead of Pacquiao. DO YOU UNDESRSTAND THAT?????????????? DO YOU THINK HE'S NUMBER ONE INSTEAD OF MANNY???? Nonito is a great figther but he has NOT achieved what Manny has done in th boxing world. Not even close. But Nonito has the potential to be in Manny's shoes no doubt about that, and that's what I said here if you just read before typing. this is my messiah: Spoiler
1. Blood... look at all that blood. 2. Donaire looks huge in comparison with Sydorenko. Definitely can move up a couple divisions fairly comfortably.
Here's a perfect jab to your ignorance. http://sports.yahoo.com/box/news;_ylt=AkLwtNnpQQCMMAxRiRSvJ..UxLYF?slug=ki-donaire120310
1. The fight was a bantomweight. He did fight at flyweight in the past, but has move up a couple of divisions. 2. Guys can move up after 28. Pacquaio did, as did Mayweather. 3. We are not talking about moving up to 140 or something crazy like that... he's at 118 now, 122 or 126 is what I was referring to. He's got the frame for it.
Boxing has too many weight classes. I liked when the UFC first started and there were no weight classes. Royce Gracie just had to fight heavyweights to win. That is more like fights in real life. At least MMA has only nine weight classes and they are at like 10 to 20 pound intervals. No one is going to avoid fighting you because they outweigh you by four pounds.
Golden Boy signs Donaire; Arum threatens action http://sports.yahoo.com/box/news;_y...lug=ki-arum_gbp_claim_donaire_contract_031611 Boxing’s most powerful promoters are poised to lock horns in a dispute over a highly coveted Filipino superstar. If it sounds familiar, it is, because less than five years after Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank sued each other in a battle for the rights to Manny Pacquiao, history seems about to repeat itself. Golden Boy announced the signing of bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire Jr., on Wednesday, though Top Rank chairman Bob Arum insists his company has a valid contract with Donaire. Donaire vaulted into stardom on Feb. 19, when he knocked out Fernando Montiel in the second round of an HBO bout at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas to win the World Boxing Council and World Boxing Organization 118-pound belts. But not quite a month after the biggest victory of his career, Donaire left Top Rank and signed a deal with Golden Boy. “We have a valid, enforceable contract, and we’ll pursue our legal rights against Donaire, Golden Boy and anyone else who is involved,” Arum said Wednesday. “We are absolutely confident we will prevail.” Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer said Golden Boy is confident Donaire was free to sign with it. He said Donaire’s representatives approached him and informed him that they considered Donaire a free agent and were soliciting offers for a new contract. Schaefer said after his lawyers gave him the green light, he pursued Donaire. “Once he declared he was a free agent, we became interested,” Schaefer said. “Who wouldn’t be? I’m not an attorney, but we have a very good legal team and they agreed with Nonito’s legal team and with their position, which paved the way for us to make an offer.” Arum said Donaire signed a contract with Top Rank in late June 2008 that he said was for three years and that included a one-year option. He said the contract included a provision that extended it if Donaire was suspended. Arum said Donaire had several medical suspensions, which are routinely doled out by state athletic commissions after fights, that have lengthened the contract. Donaire’s manager, Cameron Dunkin, failed to return several phone calls or text messages seeking comment. Dunkin, one of boxing’s elite managers, has a number of fighters with both promoters. Dunkin has long had a close relationship with Top Rank and once had an office in Top Rank’s suite. “Cameron signed off on the deal,” Schaefer said. “He’s Nonito’s manager, and he clearly has the trust of Nonito. Cameron is a very capable, great manager. I know doing this puts him in a difficult situation, because he has fighters with each of us, but this is what free agency is all about. “I’m sure the Cleveland Cavaliers weren’t thrilled when LeBron James didn’t sign with them again, but that is what happens in free agency. When an athlete reaches free agency, he can go where he wants.” Donaire said after his win over Montiel that he would like to unify the bantamweight belts. Anselmo Moreno has the World Boxing Association belt and Joseph Agbeko holds the International Boxing Federation title. Agbeko defends his title against the Golden Boy-promoted Abner Mares on April 23 in the finale of Showtime’s bantamweight tournament. A win by Mares would set up an easy unification bout for three of the four titles between Donaire and Mares. “There are some big fights at bantamweight out there for Nonito and he has the opportunity to move up in weight, as well,” Schaefer said. “We didn’t sign him just because we wanted to match him with Abner, because there is no guarantee Abner will win that fight. We think he will, but it’s far from certain. “But we signed Nonito because he is one of the best fighters in the world and he puts on exciting fights that people want to see. He’s on everyone’s pound-for-pound list. Those are the kinds of guys we want to promote.” Whether he will get the chance, at least in the short term, is probably going to be up to a judge or arbiter Daniel Weinstein. Golden Boy and Top Rank settled their suit over Pacquiao in 2007 after agreeing to arbitrate the matter with Weinstein. Arum said Weinstein still has jurisdiction over interactions between the companies. He said Wednesday that he has left the matter in the hands of his attorneys and that legal action will be filed as soon as is reasonably possible. “We have a very clear, very solid contract and we wrote a letter advising them of that,” Arum said. “I am absolutely confident that we will prevail and that Donaire will finish out his contract with Top Rank.”
I doubt it, there are many guys that he can beat up besides his idol. I don't see that happening, ever.
No because I doubt we see him at 147 anytime soon or at all. But for the sake of it, let's say it could happen. If he wanted a Pacquaio fight, his best bet would be to stay with Top Rank. Top Rank and Golden Boy do not get along and rarely deal with each other. Their clash is part of the reason we have yet to see Floyd-Manny.
