I think that if I was a record executive looking for the entire package it would be Pia and Casey way above the rest. Noboby else has their star quality or range of talent.
I used to dismiss Lauren as just a bubbly girl, but she looking more like a star to me every time I hear her sing, she is a less hot version of Carrie Underwood, she is like a cross between Carrie and Kelly Clarkson. I also think that Scotty might be a star right now in the country genre. He looks the part. Casey looks to me like that he will be the most like a real artist but I am still unsure if he really has the kind of appeal that will make him a huge star. He is all over the map with the things he is doing. Paul is the most likely to front his own band. Pia, with the right song and image could be huge, but she is kinda like casey, huge talent but less focus. And then you got Lusk, this guy doesn't have the personality or flavor of say an al green, but he's vocals are rare, and I doubt there are a handful of people in the world that could do what he does. He is on the level of a susan boyle.
After last night's performances, here are some quick thoughts.... Liked: Pia, Scotty, Lauren, Stefano, Karen Disliked: Jacob, Casey Eh, whatever: Thia, James Hated: Paul, Naima, Haley Here are my updated "power rankings": 1) Pia - In class all her own. Has the powerful voice and looks to be a superstar. Liked hearing her do something uptempo. She's the total package. 2) James - Thought this week's performance was decent overall. A far cry from last week, though. 3) Casey - Wasn't a fan of the cryptic remix of 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'. Thought he dropped the ball a bit with this one. Poor song choice. 4) Lauren - Huge, powerful voice. Nailed it. I still have a hard time picturing her winning this competition, but she definitely isn't going anywhere for quite some time. 5) Stefano - Great performance. Seemed a little mechanical at times (which is bizarre considering how much energy he sings with) but overall he made sure he stood out. 6) Scotty - He must of heard me say he's only capable of singing one type of song since he went a little higher with this performance and showed some stones. Dude nailed it. He's got the perfect country voice and will be successful regardless of what happens in AI. 7) Thia - She needs to color outside the lines a bit. Right now, she's probably the second best vocalist in the competition yet she wouldn't be able to set gasoline on fire if she tried. Please surprise me with something. 8) Jacob - Dropping like a ton of bricks in my book. Wasn't a fan of his performance this week -- song was sung too high and he lacked any kind of control. He was kind of just screaming (far cry from the guy I labeled "boring" earlier in this thread). 9) Karen - To her credit she delivered this week. She's earned the right to stick around in my book. 10) Haley - Poor song choice. She's running out of lives on this show. 11) Paul - Weird vocals and stumbles around the stage like a drunken idiot. Yeah, definitely not my cup of tea. 12) Naima - I swear my mind wasn't already made up before she performed. Just not a fan.
First: Pia-By far the best at this point, what a voice this girl has. Last: Paul-Can you just imagine trying to sit through an entire concert of Paul. Darkhorse: Karen-I think she has a lot of talent, she just needs to pick the right songs and have more confidence. I thought she did well last night.
Solid post there, baller. I agree pretty much with your rankings although the top 4 I might move around a little bit. But I am afraid that Casey took a little bit of a drop with last night's performance. The vocals weren't as good as they have been for him but he is still, by far, IMO the most talented person in this thing with his ability to play the different instruments. Thought it was funny how the judges show Jacob Lusk love. He was badly out of tune on "Alone", so much so that Jennifer Lopez grimaced but they still gave him all kinds of praise (especially Randy). My bottom 3 predictions are Naima, Karen, and Haley with Haley leaving. I know it should be Naima but those things rarely turn out that way and Haley has already been in the bottom 3 so far this season. Would really like to see McDonald be eliminated, though, as that dude is awful!
I am still waiting to see all of the "incredible" talent they keep claiming to have this year. I doubt he will win, but the only sure thing I think they have is Scotty.
Scotty is a safe bet. he's got a great country music voice but no kick-ass perfromance yet. Once he does that america will go crazy about him. He's got a great personality, there's nothing to dislike about him.
Didn't really get to watch it tonight but I do know that Karen got sent home which isn't a surprise. However, the big thing I want to know is did the Black Eyed Peas really send a stand-in to be "Fergie"? Was there a fake Fergie out there, lol?

Yea, read about it on yahoo. I went to buddy TV and they didn't say anything about it which is really surprising to me.
The performance of Karen tonight deserves a save but it's not really going to matter, they're saving it for the big ones like Casey, Pia and Jacob.

Looked like plastic surgery or Botox to me. If it was a stand in, I don't think they would have had so many close ups.
