So trying to decide on lunch and noticed a couple of places I eat have significant difference in "energy source".

    Subway (12" Chicken Teriyaki) - 9g fat/120g carb

Pei Wei (Kung Pao Chicken) - 38g fat/52g carb

Now I've read that fat is a better energy source for humans compared to carbs but some say it's the other way around. What do yall think the better energy source is? What should I have for lunch today? :)

I work out almost everyday but not trying to lose weight. Rather trying to lean up a bit and gain some muscle mass. Protein content of above is very similar.

Fat is harder to burn and easier to store.

    Is this a serious question?

Stay away from the fatty foods dude. That stuff also has higher cholesterol.

Ever hear of carbo-loading? If you're working out regularly, you don't have to worry as much about your body breaking down the carbs.

Both carbs and fat give you energy, but if you're trying to build energy for a workout today then you need carbs. Fats (NOT saturated or trans fats) are essential for on-going energy too.

I'm guessing the Kung Pao chicken is probably loaded with saturated fat, and the chicken teryaki has way more carbs than you need in one meal (your body probably won't be able to use it all and will store it as fat), so neither are particularly good choices.

How often do you see a fat guy with too much energy? You load up on carbs if you want energy for a workout. You load up on fat if you want to hibernate for a couple of months.

good carbs + good fats > bad carbs + bad fats.

To OP's false choice between Subway and Pei Wei, both options are loaded with bad fat and bad carbs.

    Thus, I choose neither.

Put Crisco on your Subway sandwich to make fat and carbs even.

If you want to lean up, give up bread completely for a few months. Really. It works. If you can handle life without sandwiches, your stomach will lean up quickly.

It might just be me, but I actually feel better physically after ridding bread from my diet.

I've never needed to lose weight, but I do try to lean up from time to time. More water and less bread is the way to go.

Hope things work out how you want them to. :)

Crisco has hydrogenated fats. Go with lard.

Half right. Fat is harder to burn and store. Refined carbs are pretty bad for you. The simple answer is choose fat over carbs to loose weight.

Your body produces cholesterol. If you intake cholesterol your body will just produce less of it. From what I have read recently there is little evidence that high cholesterol causes heart disease.
