The irony is, the Rockets can win more games than the Knicks and still get a higher pick then NY without swapping.
Agree with OP.. It'll take 46 wins for the 8th seed. Rockets can't lose more than 3 more the rest of the way.
But that's going to upset alot of ClutchFans.... "We overachieved at 42-40 last year because of Brooks!" I can see a possible 11-3 finish if Scola comes back healthy, 9-5 or 10-4 if not.
We don't have the developed post presence to compete in these playoffs... Do you think Hasheem will make it to the PlayOff rotation just in case? How many can suit up to play?
There is not much post presence in the west. Dirk? Duncan?Gasol? Aldridge?Do any of those names really scare you like David Robinson/Duncan (in his prime) Karl Malone and Shawn Kemp ..they used to scare me. Nowadays I'll put chuck hayes on anyone. No team is really standing out so I say go for it and put in thabeet for 5 fouls and blocking inside here, and there if the other team keeps taking it to the hoop. Also Patterson has shown that he can block shots, and scola has a good back to the basket game. It's not like we have 0 on the inside.
It going to take............. A Point Guard who get at least 10 assists per game every game and Scola and Martin scoring combined 40 points every game. Miller needs to go into a retirement mode. If this does not work then Coach Adelman needs to play Thabeet to get practice at the NBA game
The remaining schedule looks like 7-7, pretty much a mirror image of the season. No playoffs. Not much hope in the lottery.
I already called this two weeks ago. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=5987123&postcount=17 The fact that both Yao/T-Mac went down and we will most likely end up with back to back above .500 seasons makes me wonder what could have been if they had been healthy. It is a shame, now that we finally have the supporting cast that Yao & T-Mac needed, we no longer have Yao & T-Mac...
Yeah, I guess that's why you really can't fault management too much since the team was built around those two players. Now that T-mac is gone and Yao is pretty much finished, we gotta be able to move on. I still like the direction of this team and most of the players we currently have. Just gotta turn some of the dead weight on this team and hope for a superstar or two to come our way and we can right the ship. We've had a lot of bad luck so let's hope against hope that things will turn our way.
I think if we make it (by some miracle), New Orleans will be the one to drop out. Currently 39-30, Paul had a concussion and thier schedule is brutal: vsPhoenix vsBoston @Utah @Phoenix @Los Angeles vsPortland vsMemphis vsIndiana vsHouston vsPhoenix @Memphis vsUtah @Dallas
We will need to to win 10 games for a guranteed spot. 8 games will be 50/50. I dont see us getting there. We have not improved in any of our weak spots all year. We cant beat teams above .500, we cant hold onto leads, we cant finish close games. Look at our team records for against good teams and close games then look at our up coming scedule. 3 PTS OR LESS 6-7 10 PTS OR MORE 5-10 VS .500 AND ABOVE 15-27 VS BELOW .500 19-7 OVER TIME 1-5 We have 7 teams above .500 left to face. Charlotte will be fighting for their playoffs too - so they will be playing extra hard. Utah is a 50/50. Golden State, Clippers and Minny have already beaten us once. And the other two Clippers games and one Minny game where we won were really close. Plus New Jersey is starting to play well. I wouldnt be surprised if we lose 8-9 games from here on in. I havent seen that sense of urgency in our boys. Wed 16 vs Charlotte win Fri 18 vs Boston loss Sun 20 vs Utah win Wed 23 vs Warriors win Sun 27 @ Miami loss Tue 29 @ Nets win Wed 30 @ Philadelphia loss Fri 01 vs San Antonio loss Sun 03 vs Atlanta loss Tue 05 vs Sacramento win Wed 06 @ New Orleans loss Sat 09 vs LA Clippers win Mon 11 vs Dallas loss Wed 13 @ Minnesota win
i totally agree. new orleans is going to struggle to hang on to a playoff spot. the rockets, however, can't lose more than 3-4 of their remaining games to grab the 8 spot. still a longshot, but we are in the mix.
if you can't control own destination and have to rely on other teams losses to get into playoff, your chance is limited and i would say zero.
Wins: Charlotte, Utah, G.S., Nets, Kings, Clippers, T-Wolves. Losses: Boston, Heat, 76's, Spurs, Hawks, New Orleans, Dallas I really can't even imagine a record better than this, which means 7-7 and 41-41. No playoffs and the worst draft position.
