Jordan Lyles in for his ST debut today against the Yankees. Not a terrible start at all. Gave up a 2 walks walk and a single in 2. Induced Cano into an inning ending DP.
Astros vs. Orioles is on MLB Network at 1pm ET for anyone that wants to catch some live Spring action. The Astros will also be the focus of tonight's 30 Clubs in 30 Days at 8pm ET.
Lyles also had a nice outing, 2 very good innings with 3 Ks. He may actually be the best #5 candidate but with Hernandez needing to stay at the big league level all year, Lyles may start at AAA.
I think it will take an odd confluence of events for Lyles to make the team as the number 5 starter regardless of how well he does, although if he truly deserves it, I hope I am wrong.
Ripped a grand slam for 4 of them ribbies. Seems like that as he's settling in, his power is starting to surface. I'm glad they are making it his job to lose. Not too many other guys have really played much at 1st, at least not guys who'll be in the bigs to start the year. Wallace isn't spending too much time watching his back, which is likely to help his confidence.
Did anyone hear on the radio how they were concerned Berkman wasn't going to get the social attention he needs now that he is in the outfield?
Yea, I have them ready but honestly doubt the guy stays healthy enough to play all those game against us. I'm starting to get a little worried about Myers, hopefully this spring was about him working on certain pitches which has lead to his stats. In reality, I guess, this is more of the guy I expected to get last season...4 runs and 12 hits through 5+.
brianmctaggart Myers' line in Minor League game: 7 ip, 7 h, 3 r, 2 er, 6 k, 103 pitches. Quintero 4 for 4, 2 hrs Astros lose 10-0 to Nats, held to 2 hits.
i was at the game last night. the good news, if there is any. - Red Sox are the best hitting team in baseball, book that. -Beckett pitched great, lack of hitting, but i think he bounces back this year for a top 15 finish in the AL Bad news, - WE SUCK AT HITTING
