Right now New York's record is 34-31 (surprisingly enough, only 3 wins above the rockets)

They are 6th place and if you look at the way the east standings are, it looks as though they will stay in 6th place.

The Heat are in 3rd place and could very well remain in 3rd.

This would bring us a matchup of Heat vs. Knicks in the first round.

Who would you put your money on? Predictions?

    Scola for Bosh 2012?

I think the Heat would beat the Knicks pretty easily. NY doesn't play enough defense to win a playoff series, especially without homecourt advantage.

Miami is way too talented to lose in the first round though the Knicks have Amare /Melo/Billups. Second round vs possibly either the Bulls/Celtics is a diff story altogether of course.

new york is horrible on defense, they would get swept, bet the house on whoerever they play in the first round. new york will never win with d'antoni.

Heat would rape No D NY, You don't want to play a high paced gunning game with the Heat, Wade and Lebron will destroy you on fastbreaks.

IMO 50% chance Heat win it all this year, they are too stacked. I only see good defensive teams grinding them down like Chicago or Celtics.

You people that hate the Heat so much need to screw your heads on. There is no reason to believe the Knicks would give the Heat much trouble in a series. They have been very unimpressive.

The Heat's first line of resistance will come in the 2nd round against the Bulls or Celts. Can't wait.

NY could be dangerous in the postseason:
-Emphasis shifts to the halfcourt game, which benefits Billups/Anthony/Amare more than Wade/LeBron/Bosh

-The Knicks are fairly immature, in that they overlook lesser opponents....but get amped up to play big name teams in the spotlight. They would go after Miami in a big way, since Anthony/Amare are determined to prove to the world they're just as great.

I don't know that I see an upset as much as a 6- or 7-game dogfight. The last four games, the Knicks have allowed 106+ points. They have a terrible bench. Jeffries could be useful if they sic him on Bosh. Fields is going to be killed by Wade.

Next year, assuming they bring in adequate supporting cast depth and a real center, the Knicks should be trouble. For now, I think they'll just be a tough out.

Are you kidding me? NY just traded all of their X factors in the Melo trade, and Melo is proving he isn't even worth 50% of the melodrama this season. Only way the Knicks will win in a 7 game series is if Tony Battier or Landry Fields play out of their minds.

If these two matched up in the playoffs I think a lot of people would be in for a rude awakening if they think Miami would just beat down the Knicks.

Probably not a good time to make this thread now that they beat the Lakers again and the Spurs last night. I think this thread would have went a little bit different a week and a half ago.

    Toney Douglas?

    Tony Battie is in Philly
    Shane Battier is in Memphis

Perhaps, with their powers combined, they could become Captain Tony Battier!

the heat will beat the knicks in 5 at most.

their challenge will be the celtics, then the bulls.

with the celtics, i think it's just a mental obstacle that lebron and co have to overcome. lebron and wade have individually been eliminated by boston when they were by themselves, and haven't beaten them this year.

i think the heat can beat the bulls in 6. they should have beaten the bulls the 2 times they met since the all-star break since they held a double digit leads in both games late in the 2nd half, but they were in their choking phase. if they are past their choking phase officially, a healthy heat team should beat the bulls.

if they can overcome the celtics (and the heat have to pray they play teh bulls first), then the championship should be theirs. they match up well with the lakers.

but that is if they can beat the celtics. i think that's the one team the heat may lack some confidence in.

yes. i think he has started shooting from the last telecast. i dont know how much help he will be since he has been out for so long. but i'm sure he's an upgrade from juwan, who has not made a single jumper this year it seems like.

well a week ago, they would have lost to ANY good team. i think their losses were due to themselves, rather than their opponents. they basically just choked all their games away (otuside of the spurs beatdown). like earlier in the season, hopefully they have learned from this recent stretch. their 2nd half execution has been much better since the lakers' game. that could be their turnaroudn for the 2nd half of the year similar to the cavs was for the first half.

The Knicks would struggle to even win a game.

Hollinger said that too when Cavs played Magic the other year.
