Or the volume. In any event, the seawalls apparently didn't help a great deal (if any) in the worst hit areas. I suspect that we will learn a tremendous amount from this event after all the information comes in and is analysed. I'm still blown away by the films and images of the tsunami. The dead must number in the thousands. I hope my guess is wrong, but over 10,000 wouldn't surprise me at all. The unrelenting weight/volume of water involved is simply astonishing and the repercussions, obviously, are still playing out. This has been called the worst disaster to affect Japan since WWII, and I believe it.
JR (japan railways) has officially been stopped, there will be blackouts periodically according to where you reside. There isn`t enough power to supply everybody. This is starting to get under my skin.

USS Reagan is 60 miles out and the crew has received approximately, one months worth of radiation in an hour, the Americans for safety reasons turned towards home. Tokyo and it's population of 12 million people are only 70 miles away from the Fukushima plant.. No links because I'm on my iPhone but this is nuts. If 12 million people are taking a months radiation every hour, then it's not a stretch to say cancer spikes are a possibility.

Thanks! That's a hell of a story. The ironic aspect of this is that our warships are equipped to operate in a radioactive environment. Also, the Reagan travels with a battle group, so the people on board weren't the only ones exposed. Sounds like someone dropped the ball. The scariest thing is that the radiation from the plant(s) is significant enough to affect the battle group, which is still a ways off the coast of Japan. As Japan is one of the world's most densely populated countries, this could become an incredible, long term disaster, one affecting tens of millions in Japan alone. Everything humanly possible should be done to prevent things from getting worse than they already are. I trust that we've sent, and are sending, our top people to help with this. Anything we have to assist with this problem should be in motion, soonest. Like yesterday.
