religion of piece of candy for murderers.

    [rquoter]

For most people, the brutal stabbing murder of a family of five, including an infant, would be a moment of for quiet introspection, even if the event occurred among an “enemy” population. Not so for some people in Gaza. They’re handing out candy in celebration: Gaza celebrates; Fayyad condemns

Gaza residents from the southern city of Rafah on Saturday poured out on the streets to celebrate the terror attack in West Bank settlement of Itamar, in which five family members were murdered in their sleep.

Residents handed out candy and sweets, one resident saying their joy “is a natural response to the harm settlers inflict on the Palestinian residents in the West Bank.”…

This is, by the way, just the usual behavior, not just from Gazans but from West Bank Arabs as well. It doesn’t hurt the “peace process” or anything else to be aware of that reality. In fact, denying or ignoring it makes peace even more difficult to achieve.

…The Hamas movement accused the Palestinian Authority’s security apparatus of arresting three of its activists nearby Qalqilya and Jenin.

“The report of five murdered Israelis is not enough to punish someone,” stated Hamas Spokesperson Sami Abu Zuhri, adding, “However; we in the Hamas completely support the resistance against settlers who murder and use crime and terror against the Palestinian people under the auspices of the Israeli occupation soldiers.”

A pamphlet distributed by the Islamic group stated that the PA also detained activists from Nablus, who were previously imprisoned and released.

According to unverified report, Fatah’s military wing – the al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades – assumed responsibility for the attack. A group spokesperson told a Palestinian news agency that a cell of militants infiltrated the settlement of Itamar and committed the attack…

How much incitement, how much demonization must a person go through to perpetrate such a crime? How much must have penetrated a population for them to celebrate it?[/rquoter]

This is kind of callousness to atrocities that happens when two sides have been at war with each other for decades and each side has committed cruel acts against the other.

The question is how you propose to deal with the problem.

Do Israelis flock to the streets in large numbers to celebrate murders? Are you suggesting that both sides are the same in terms of demonizing the other side?

Are you suggesting that this is an inevitable conclusion and that those who committed the murders and those who celebrated them are basically victims?

Interesting to see that SamFisher apparently finds murders funny and/or takes joy in them.

both sides are close to the same in demonizing the other side, with the Palestinians holding a slight edge.

When it comes to killing civilians, and illegally occupying lands the Israelis hold a strong lead.

When it comes to passing unjust laws that unfairly discriminate and oppress people based on their ethnicity the Israelis again hold a strong lead.

The best post in this thread..by far. It seems like this isn't about religion any more. Both sides just hate each other period.

It's not even close as far as civilians killed. Israel gets away with a lot but we all know this.

    Nuff Said.

I'm definitely not condoning either the killings or the passing out of candy. Why can't we all just get along? That's right. The world is full of nincompoops.

They have celebrated their own murderers and terrorists, yes. Full military honors and a state funeral on Mount Herzl for Eliyahu Hakim and Eliyahu Bet Zuri. They've put some of their own terrorists into the government too (ie - Yitzhak Shamir and Nathan Yellin-Mor).

Of course you are ignorant of it so spew asinine comments like above.

Hypocrites like you and some others in this thread will always turn a blind eye when your side is guilty of the exact same atrocities that you point out as the Palestinians committing. GTFO please.

What is the insinuation here? This has to do with religion?

I think you are overlooking some other factors.

The thing that upsets me more than anything is the connection of Palestinians and religion. The MOST liberal population in the Middle East when it comes to religion are the Palestinians. Just being there, it was the only place I visited where I couldnt find a burka on someone. Many women weren't covered in any way. The Middle East's only brewery is in Palestine (again remarkable for a religion that prohibits Islam and the brewery exports its beer to Israel and other countries) and I freely had a drink at a cafe on the road. The most literate place in the Middle East outside of Israel is the Palestinian territories. The highest female literacy and education rates in the Muslim world is in Palestine.

If it werent for the Israeli conflict, those people would be our model for what we want the Arab world to look like. I felt more comfortable in the West Bank than I ever felt in say Cairo. (as a foreigner that isnt Muslim) ATW for example is always searching for his vision of a "moderate" Islam yet its right in front of us in Palestine.

Yet people like Basso feel happy to label them all as religious extremists when they are probably the closest example in the Middle East to what we believe a society should be like.

There's really no excuse for killing babies and children. I can't even fathom what kind of human is capable of driving a knife through a baby.

The celebration thing is bull**** though. I'm sure it has happened, but at the average rate of insanity, similar to people who wish to bring back hitler's days in Germany. The article makes it seek like its widespread, which i don't believe and don't see ample proof for.
