Here are my rankings after this week: 1) Pia - Her performances the past two weeks have been top-notch. 2) James - Still going strong. Showed a softer side this week and nailed it. 3) Casey - Growing on me ever so slightly. Still think he's overrated by most, but he's probably going to end up winning the competition. 4) Thia - She might be the female equivalent to Jacob -- amazing voice yet completely lacking that 'star quality' that excites people. 5) Jacob - Dropping in my books. Honestly, I liked the 16-year-old kid's performance of "I Believe I Can Fly" last year more than I liked this version. 6) Lauren - Amazing talent, amazing voice....something's missing, though. Very excited to see what she has in store for us. Big wild card, IMO. 7) Scotty - His biggest problem is we know exactly what to expect from him. He's good at what he does, no doubt. I'd just like to hear something other than a slow, deep country song (that I've never heard of). The problem is it doesn't suit him to do so. 8) Stefano - Likable kid but lacks the powerful voice most in front of him have. 9) Haley - Not a fan of her style/voice. She does has some talent, though. And definitely the looks to sell it. Unfortunately, the 'bottom three' is probably right where she belongs. 10) Karen - Honestly, I thought her performance this week was better than the judges gave her credit for. I do think, though, that she's been too inconsistent to not make the bottom three (like she did). 11) Paul - As far as this competition goes: I've seen enough. Sure, he's unique and he has talent. I just think he's better suited elsewhere. 12) Naima - This insanity needs to end. Her performance of "Umbrella" was straight karaoke until that whateveryawannacallit dance beat thing. Ultimately, one of these three will end up winning the competition: Casey, Pia or James.
While I think Jacob has a good voice, so far all of his songs seem the same. I agree that Pia, James or Casey will win. I think Paul may break into the top 3, although he did not do well with the Ryan Adams song. I wonder if any of them will break out the instruments.
I didn't get that vibe at all. Dude was talking about how he was laid off, doing this competition for his son, etc. Very little sense of entitlement, IMO.
University, Yes, Kendra was the one that sang the duet with your boy, Paul McDonald. She was magnificent, marvelous, and mesmerizing. She should still be in this thing, dammit! One thing that I think people are forgetting about James Durbin is that the guy has Tourette's Syndrome AND Asperger's Syndrome. Add on top of that, that he is unemployed with a small child and I would venture to say that if anyone can be somewhat obnoxious and get away with it, it would be him. He has enough problems and issues to deal with then to worry about what people like us think about him and his scarf tails. But I will say that I think some of the faces he makes, he genuinely can't help it. I am hoping he makes it to the finals.
Anyone notice Scotty didn't get a solo last night in the group effort. When he gets a certain genre that he has to get out of his realm he is most likely screwed when going against everyone else who is certainly more diverse than him. I think he will be the most famous out of the group for sure. I think Paul's voice will make him some good money and Durbin as well. The only girl I can see getting any real fame off the show is Pia.
I believe you are selling Lauren Alaina short. She has a cool name (2 first names as her name) and a great look to her. Until her last performance, she had been very good to brilliant, vocally. I still think she has a good shot of winning this but she can't afford another mediocre performance like she gave this past week. As for Scotty - he'll just sing whatever song he has to sing in his deep country voice, regardless if the song is a country one or not. The judges will love it and say stuff like "You have taken 'Viva La Vida' by Coldplay and made it into an alt country classic!".
I share this sentiment. Although his manners and conversations are not as polite and likable as he can be, I wouldn't go as far as arrogant. He obviously didn't grow up in a very nurturing environment. I would totally let it go and be a fan for he brings us every time. Edit: now that I looked up on "Tourette's Syndrome AND Asperger's Syndrome", I think he might be a hero already for what he accomplished.
He's actually one of my top 3 that i'd lilke to win.. James Paul Pia because Casey, Jacob and Scotty are already in line to stardom win or loss.
His singing would fit right in with abba. Although, abba had 2 males and females, right? I guess they'd need another male to counteract the estrogen from James.
I'm gonna call B.S. on the judges. Karen was by far one of the best, and since they can't talk about pitch they underhand her in another way. Karen was great tonight, if that would have been pia that'd have standing O'd her.
LOL ok. She's and Naima are the worst out of the group vocally. She got away with a safe song this week.
So, basically you are agreeing that based on past her performances, it doesn't matter what she does going forward, even if she was better than the girls you pre-rank ahead of her? Is that what you are saying? Tonight she was the second best girl. Only Lauren beat her vocally tonight.
This is how it's ranked tonight for girls: Pia Lauren or Thia(terrible arrangement by whomever like last week) Karen Hailey(bad song choice) Naima
