Thank civil engineers for the preparation of their building and scientists for their early tsunami warning system, not God. If you want to thank God for something, thank him for the earthquake and tsunami.
You are reading way too much into that. Anyway if you read my post to B-Bob I pointed out how many people in Thailand and Sri Lanka died because they went out to collect fish on the beach during the tsunami. Last I checked Thais and Sri Lankans are Asians.
I thank God for giving people reason (I'm sure that sounds ironic to you, but that's fine w/ me). Not that I understand why this happened at all. Hard to imagine the suffering. Praying for everyone affected.
Man, this is terrible. That's the luxury living near the ocean but the price you paid. I wonder if Japan will rethink about building homes/cities near the water front.
Japan doesn't really have the choice given their population density and that much of the inland is mountainous. This is a tangent but the bigger issue about building along the coastline is here in the US where we see massive developments along the gulf and Atlantic coasts right in the path of hurricanes. In many cases right on top of barrier islands and peninsulas.
Oh course I know it's an Island and a big Island too. It will lessen the damages if they build far away from the coastlines since Tsunami and Earthquake are pretty often there.
Thank the earthquake education system in Japan. Lots of people did not really panic, did the right things to reduce the damages. Especially teachers in elementary schools; they evacuated the kids calmly. I truly think if this happens anywhere else in the world, the country would be in full panicking mood and lots more thing could go wrong.
Since the cost of the artificial Kansai International Airport cost around $20 Billion. I wonder how much would it cost or the complexity it is to clear out the mountainous terrain to build the same size compare to the Kansai International Airport?
I thought you were being sarcastic. Because otherwise shows that you sincerely know jack **** about Japan as a country. Go tell the people of San Francisco that they need to relocate their entire city ( and they have room to do so, unlike us) and see how they react.
Isn't only 2% of the land in Japan open to farming, etc.? I'm not sure about the amount inhabitable...
