This article was from Sing Tao News, and Sina (US site) posted it on its website. It is not a Sina article, not even posted on Sina (China site).

Sing Tao News is published with different editions in the US, Europe, Australia, Canada, and Hongkong. I do not know which edition published this article.

The article's Chinese title is 好友爆料腳傷難癒 傳姚明將告別NBA, which actually means "Yao's close friend disclosed that Yao's foot has difficulty in healing. It is rumored that Yao will bid farewell to NBA".

All in all, this article has very little to do with China. Sina (US site) is servicing the US readers, investors, and customers, and the original article is from Sing Tao News, not owned by Mainland China and not published in Mainland China.

Only if Yao leaves for Ye Li, while she is pregnant, for a twenty-year old blonde and the collective of alimony, child support, and failed post-career enterprises leave him broke and forgotten.

Still, it would be awesome...there's no such thing as a Chinese wash-up, the people are much to diligent and hard working. If he does come back, expect him to BALL.

Hopes aside, just want the big guy to do whatever that makes him happy:p

Who can be convicted if a similar case happened in here? And based on what? Are you saying that anyone who makes up a speculative rumor about an incident in an entertainment industry will be convicted here? If that's the case, the whole crew working at National Enquirer must be looking for a defense attorney now.

You seem to have no idea about what you are talking about. Didn't sleep well last night? A cup of coffee can help you to wake up to reality.

Everything is speculation until it becomes reality. You can even come out of retirement. The reality is that we no longer had star in current team.I become Huston Rocket fan (or Hakeem Olajuon fan) in 1990's. Dream was truly amzing. I still remember Robert Horry, sam Cassell, kenny smith,Vernon maxwell, ottis thorpe.........list go on........
I am hoping one day Houston will go back to those glorious days and we find our future endurance gifted center again............

Totally agree. That post he made that there are actual laws making sure every news media in the US posts only accurate info was ridiculously absurd. At first I thought it was sarcasm, but then I realized it was serious.

It was almost like an Orwellian slogan.

There's a finality to turning in your retirement papers in the NBA, once you turn them in you have to wait for a months long league decision to reverse it. If I were Yao, I would not officially retire just in case he wants to make it back.

The potential lockout also might be to his advantage, if it's a long lockout ala the NHL one it will give him more time for his rehab before the season starts. No way running a minor league CBA team can compare with the big stage of the NBA. I hope Yao busts his butt to make it back.

Oh, I'm not worried about him busting his butt trying to make it back, I'm more worried about him busting his foot a couple weeks into his comeback.

If yao comes back he can play alongside thabeet and they can be the

    'ebony and ivory towers'

remember you heard it here first.

an interesting point the article brings up, is whether or not yao would accept more damage to the legs for a measly 2-3 million a year? He has plenty of money supposedly. If he is using a cane ,and is doing permanent damage to his ability to walk ,then he should hang it up.

The rockets probably wouldn't go more than a one year contract at 2-3 a year, and I'm not sure if it's worth it to yao. The only thing is pride and whether he wants to give it one last go. I think the rockets are holding out hope for that, and can get him for a bargain. If he is a few million for one year I say we do it.

i'm not completely sold on him being done and if he is not done I want him to be a rocket, retire a rocket. What is another 2-3 a year when we have a team that was originally assembled for him? At 2-3 a year he is no worse or better of a choice than any other 2-3 million a year guy. look at the list of 2-3 million a year guys.

We cant let the burn of 17 million this year cloud what he can be going forward. I dont think he is going to go out there and agree to play unless he knows he can go. He has too much pride, and his name is not evander holyfield or brett favre. I think he will hang it up when he needs to. Yao = rocket for life. accept it.

as a rocket fan i'd be happy to have him back, hopefully at full strength so we can be relevant again.

sports aside, i hope he retires because i want him to be able to walk without any pain. he's still got a good 50 years of walking to do.
