I'm not convinced tonight was a good night. Sure, the Memphis loss is nice, but at the rate they've been winning lately, I don't see us being able to overtake them anyway. Now New Orleans, on the other hand, is one of the few teams ahead of us that seem to be racking up the losses lately--I can see them slipping out of contention if they continue the slump. Side note: I know this thread is full of remaining schedules for the teams we're up against, but I just now noticed that New Orleans and Phoenix play each other 3 times over the next month! If only they could both lose...
i would not be surprised if the mavs lost to keep the hornets in the playoffs hoping to get them in the first round.
6 home games with no back to backs...this will decide out playoffs I estimate 43 games will get you in to to playoffs...(assume we win tie breakers) if we win 5 of next 6 we are the we are 38 wins... then we need to win remaining 5 out of 10 games to get to 43 Sat, Mar 12 vsSan Antonio Mon, Mar 14 vsPhoenix Wed, Mar 16 vsCharlotte Fri, Mar 18 vsBoston Sun, Mar 20 vsUtah Wed, Mar 23 vsGolden State

We will leave PHX/Utah behind.... it's all about Memphis vs. Us. NOH is running away... they are 4.5 games ahead plus they hold breaker.. they have better division record, if we somehow beat them @ road and tie final record.. We have advantage over Memphis... just need them to drop a few in a row.. teams can get hot and cold in a hurry.
Hornets have not clinched tiebreaker yet, but it is most likely. The Hornets and Rockets are in the same division, so Division record trumps Conference Record. Both have 4 division games left, but as they stand now the Rockets have to win all 4 and the Hornets would have lost all four. Hornets Division games: v Mem, v Hou, @ Mem, @ Dal (all in April) Rockets Division games: v SAS, v SAS, @ NOH, v Dal. Interestingly, if those 7 games turned out that way, the Rockets would make up the current gap in conference records as well.
Denver @ Phoenix tonight. Hard to choose who to root for. I still feel like Denver is going to fall off, but we're running out of games here. I would like to see as many teams as possible pull closer to the Rockets just because it gives you more chances to jump someone. Phoenix winning would be the expected result, so them winning wouldn't change projections. I guess I'm pulling for Phoenix.
We need Denver to win this game. That would give us the game back that we lost against them. Denver is not in our sights right now, we should only be focused on (1)Utah (2)Phx (3)Mem, in that order, cause that is the order we will be able to jump them.
Agreed- We're not catching Denver or Portland. We 6 in the loss column on top of winning virtually zero tiebreaks. We need to get ahead of Utah and Phoenix and then track down Memphis or New Orleans.
agree, this season is probably over there are so many ifs, that this just does not feel like our season back when early in the season, we got screwed by the spurs and bulls, both hitting buzzer beaters and winning the overtime game we should have won....feels so bad about these guys, just doesn't have the defense to shut down the stupid Suns, look how denver reacted when Suns made a push at the half......
16 Games Left …. What do you “think” our record needs to be to get into the playoffs? 13-3 ? Would that be enough?
