Everybody is forgetting an obvious. One of my favorite movies is American History X.

I saw one called 10th and Wolfe the other day. Some recognizable faces (Giovanni Ribisi, Brad Renfro and Dennis Hopper). It was like a 7 on the 10 scale, worth a watch.

Make sure you watch The Sopranos of course. Not a movie, but great.

    Eastern Promises???
The one where Lawrence Fishburn plays "Bumpy"
If you're into comedy I guess Kung Fu Hustle qualifies.

Did nobody mention Once Upon A Time in America? Most people like the European version better, but this is one time I prefer the American version.

    Though both are excellent.

I came into this thread expecting to "second" whoever mentioned Donnie Brasco. But unless I missed it, no one has recommended that yet. Easily one of my favorite Gangster/Mafia movies of all time. Pacino, Depp and a great story. HIGHLY recommended.
