Agreed, but I think the T-Will thing is minor. I did get the sense that Adelman isn't happy with the T-Will situation when he said something to the effect of "He gives me the players and I have to coach them", but I don't think there is tension between Les, Morey, and Adelman. Plus, Morey has certainly shown the ability to listen to Adelman on players (Brooks, Miller, and probably others I am forgetting) and he has always tried to put a very competitive team on the court.

I think if this rumor is around then it's because Adelman may be wanting to call it a career, but I hope he doesn't. He has done an amazing job coaching our broke down team. Also, I think he has done a great job developing our players and their "basketball IQ". If he could get T-Will to get his head out of his ass then that might be his greatest coaching achievement ever .

Would it be safe to say he is the best coach the Rockets have ever had?

If Rick wants to keep coaching the Rockets should do everything within their power to retain him.

You mean the same Nate McMillan that absolutely got destroyed by Adelman 2 years ago?

That's from Feigen after being asked about the topic.

I think Adelman runs the team brilliantly from a big picture perspective. The way our offense flows, just the way we play in general is obvious they are well coached.

What ticks me off about Adelman is the in game adjustments or tactical decisions. I made a thread once asking if he threw a game this year where he ordered the players to foul when we were down 3 with over 30 seconds left. Things like that just don't make sense to me.

Just last night, while we were getting torched by Vince Carter and Hakim "little dream" Warrick, I was asking myself the whole time where was Courtney Lee and Chuck Hayes? You know, our two BEST defenders. I can certainly understand keeping Martin in even though he's had a bad game, but what exactly has Budinger done all game to leave him in over Lee? Brad Miller didn't do terribly but certainly wasn't lighting the world on fire to leave him in over Hayes. I mean we have like 3 threads on here asking why our defense has gotten better, and it is because we have gotten rid of a defensive liability and playing better defensive players. Well, it doesn't really work like that when you keep those guys ON THE BENCH.

I am channeling my inner Alexander and it makes me mad just thinking about stuff like this. Stuff that just doesn't make sense. I certainly see where he is coming from.

At the end of the day I think Adelman's big picture stuff outweighs these "minor details", which is why I have and still want him to remain our coach. Although I hope stuff like this doesn't cost him in a tight game or series deep in the playoffs. We either need some better assistant coaches who are "tacticians", or more balanced "2-way" players so there is less in-game decision making. Just have Adelman deal with the overall strategy and nothing else.

I love Adelman and JVG both. I'd really be happy with either. I am intrigued by the idea of what JVG could do with a group of players with this much talent though. There's no question that Adelman's teams have been more talented than JVGs were (coinciding with the rise of Morey).

I completely agree with you about Adelman. I think Elston Turner might be a good replacement since he's coached under some of the best but I can't think of any other coaches that could have done a better job given the lack of talent. The fact is, Adelman seems to get the most out of his players. Also, his offense is fun to watch with all the backdoor cuts and fast breaks, which was the exact opposite with JVG.

replacing adelman would be the dumbest move my alexander. Name another coach who can have a winning season with our line up? He is the most underrated coach.

have you noticed players always end up doing worse when they are traded away?? Adelman knows how to get the most out of each asset he has, without Adelman, Morey would be an average GM[/QUOTE]

Spoken like a very intelligent person.

I'm in favor of letting Adelman go... then they can hire me and the Rockets will be assured of having the most pingpong balls next year. With Adelman around this team will never be bad enough to have a high probability of securing a high pick.

That heat team coached by Adleman would be much better .... If he could get them to buy into his system. I dont know if you could get those players to buy in .... they seem to think they can do it with their talent alone , their record against the top teams should prove them wrong.

Honestly I'd hate to see Letravel and Bosh benifit from a coach like Adleman , I cant stand those diva bastards.

There may be a hand full of coaches that could do an equal or perhaps even potentially better job than Adelman out there, but much like when JVG was let go, I don't think changing coaches is going to improve the team to contender status. Getting or developing a star player or two is much more important than improving the coaching.

Even if there is another equal or arguably better coach out there, what is his incentive to come here and coach this borderline lottery team? I mean it isn't like the team is underachieving. If anything we have over achieved the past 2 seasons as disappointing as they have been.

Kyle Lowry's play is only a indicator of how good a system Adelman has. Without Adelman, Morey wouldn't have a job and Les would be the laughing stock of the league. Getting rid of Adelman will set the rockets back another 10 years
    HUGE mistake if true

Not true by any stretch of the imagination. JVGs way of coaching would've never allowed players like Brooks, Budinger or Lee to maximize they're potential. He never had the patients to allow younger players to develop. Plus his offensive system wouldn't have allowed any movement for those players to succeed. All the credit for the "talent" goes to Adelman

    Come. On.

Who did Jeff Van Gundy not have enough patience with? I hate this idea that he somehow hated playing rookies. The rookies Jeff Van Gundy ever had on his team were Luther Head, Steve Novak, and Vassilis Spanoulis.

-Luther Head was playing 29 minutes a game his ROOKIE year. That's more than Budinger, Patterson, Lee, etc.

-Steve Novak played for JVG and Adelman. Both coaches used him in the same number of games and he averaged 2 more minutes under Adelman.

-Vassilis Spanoulis appeared in 31 games (four less than Novak) and shot 32% from the field and 17% from downtown in his limited time. His per 36 numbers showed him averaging four turnovers, one thing JVG said was keeping him from more minutes.

Its not going to be smart to change Adelman now that the team finally knows his system. We all knew that it takes time to learn the Princeton offense especially with all these player changes. Why fix something thats not even broken or thats actually doing good now. Its going to be a disaster alright it we lose our coach!

It's tough, but I have trouble giving that title to anyone other than the guy who helped bring us two championships.
