What's interesting is that without Miller last night, the Rockets would have probably been blown out. Our offense just didn't work very well when he was out of the game. Miller lead the team in rebounds, assists, and he had two steals, but the final 30 seconds makes it look like he lost the game. If martin could have just had an average game we probably win easily.
I'll be the first to say Miller should be replaced before the start of next season (he is really playing his stated age), but to crucify the man for yesterday's loss is pathetic. Miller did not lose that game, the entire team did by playing much worse than they are capable. It is very rare that one bb player can be really faulted for losing a game (Nick Anderson in 1995, had he made any of the 4 missed free throws when the Magic was already up by 3, and they most likely win that first game against us in the 1995 Finals).
It's not one game, he's been horrible all year. His only real attribute is his passing, which also turned out to be his worst yesterday. Face it, he can't defend or rebound, which is what 7-foot centers are supposed to do.
He hasn't been terrible all year. That's selective memory by fans. The problem is he's not a shot blocking defensive center who rebounds well, which is what we need. The first mistake fans made was expecting him to do that. Theyre setting him up for failure from the start. The second mistake is bashing him because Morey failed to get the center we still need. It's not his fault. He shoots, he passes, he helps run the offense and make it easier for everyone else. He's doing what he was brought in to do. This screw up doesn't change that.
It's been said already: he played well up to that point. Let's try to be fair here. He isn't the first player in NBA history (or Rockets history, for that matter) to fall apart in crunchtime.
Throws the ball away. Throws it away again (but Lowry steals it back). Steals a pass from Martin. Doesn't pass to a wide open Budinger. Airballs it. And durvasa wants to blame Martin for the loss... Lol.
I think Brad & Luis ( 30+ year old players) should have been moved at the deadline like Battier. Patterson or some other young big should have been allowed to make this mistake. At least they could've gained some useful experience from it. Tough break for Brad, but he shouldn't have been here to be in that situation. Time to get on with rebuilding.
Seeing that we have lost so many close games in the last few minutes... Brad Miller is clearly at fault at the end of this game. Houston Rockets are ranked as one of the worst teams in making field goals in the last few minutes of the 4th quarter. Players like Brad Miller are a reason why we have such a hard time late in games.
What a heartbreaking loss. Watching it live I was just pissed but watching it again it might be the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life. I almost fell over in my chair no joke. Wow.
