Why not give Mario Elie a shot? Remember when Les said the team had made a major trade that turned out to be Mario? Everyone laughed. He turned out to be an important part of a championship team. Maybe he can be the next Rudy T. He's paid his dues right?

would be crazy if he did go to south beach. imagine adelman coaching that team. they're already crazy good defensively, just struggling offensively. he would be the perfect fit.

How does it feel to have a meddling owner that doesn't know what he's doing? Seems like a recipe for success, doesn't it?

If Les really wants to let Adelman go, I hope he'll hire Battier as a player/coach. Seriously. I know player/coaches haven't done too well historically-- but none of them was Shane Battier. Shane communicates well, and I could see him making a serious, effective effort at the coaching. The players seem to respect Shane. It would be a novel solution to a needless problem.

Heck, maybe Yao could come back as an assistant player/coach!

If Les wants to go really cheap, I'm available.

LOL Rick hates players that need the ball in their hands. If he sits T-Will because he's a one on one player, imagine him trying to change Lebron!

    LOL!!!

Rockets got lucky when they let JVG go and hired Adelman. Probably won't happen again. If they don't try to bring Adelman back, that says to me they are lowering expectations for the next couple of years.

That's a sane post. People, including Justice are extrapolating a lot. All we really know:

    1. Adelman's contract is up
    2. He hasn't made his future preferences known.
    3. Les is a decent owner so will want to have a plan B

    4. maybe, just maybe, probably not, but... Les is looking forward to the opportunity to change coaches. If he knows basketball at all, this point is very unlikely, but it's what most of this thread is about.

I'm for one that loves the idea that RA is going. RA is a good coach when it comes to grinding out results, but when it comes to player development......

It takes the trading of Battier to bring out Bud. It takes the injury of others to bring out Pat. And its the same for the past couple of seasons. AB, Landry, Lowry was all given playing time only due to trades or injuries.

Hmmm ... maybe we should exchange then. I wouldn't mind getting Spoelstra here, if Adelman won't be back.

This is a bit suprising because I always assumed it was Adelman's call whether to come back or not but, apparently, that might not be the case. I truly wonder how much of this has to do with Morey and the development of young players like Williams, Hill and maybe Thabeet?

I might be more likely to buy this if he hadn't already done it twice before.

I know, right? That's why Drexler looked like pure crap playing for Portland. And only beasted in Houston.

And Chris Webber turned from a superstar to a role player when he went to Sacramento(although the highest usage rate in his career was 30% in Sacramento).

I swear every time Clyde commentates a Rockets game, he'd complain for ages about how Adelman never let him touch the ball.

If we do get a coaching change, I'm hoping we can bring back JVG. Sure enough our offense wouldn't average anything near 100 pts per game and our defense might not be the same without T-beaux as asst. Coach

I find it funny how people want to keep a coach that is meant for a team with vets.

This Rockets team is rebuilding and we should just accept that fact and let Rick go. We need player development. We need a coach that can teach the young guys defense and allow them to blossom. Rick is a good coach but we aren't a good team. It's time to sever the cord. It's what's best for him and us.

Well.......so much for the "Adelman can't coach superstars" theory.

I used the split to show the kind of coaches we may be looking at based on history. Obviously having better players attract better coaches(see: Riley, Pat and Jackson, Phil for a couple of examples).

I wasn't commenting on how anyone would do once they're here. Just what kind of talent pool we're looking at.
