List of coaching hires the last 3 years

    Teams with NO superstar/budding-superstar

    Mike D'Antoni
    Larry Brown
    Terry Porter
    Micheal Curry
    Scott Skiles
    Flip Saunders
    Eddie Jordan
    Paul Wesphaul
    John Kuester
    Kurt Rambis
    Jay Triano
    Tony DiLeo
    Kenny Natt
    Jeff Bower
    Ton Barrise
    Kiki Vandeweghe
    Kim Hughes
    Doug Collins
    Larry Drew
    Vinny Del Negro
    Bryon Scott
    Keith Smart
    Avery Johnson

    Teams with superstar/budding-superstar

    Scott Brooks
    Rick Carlisle
    Vinny Del Negro
    Erik Spoelstra
    Alvin Gentry
    Tom Thibodeau
    Monty Williams

Keep in mind that when we hired JVG, we had a budding superstar in Yao. And that when we hired Adelman, we had a superstar and one star.

If the past is any indication, I'm sure the future looks so, so, very bright with Adelman out and new coach coming in...

Yet Boston offense minus Thib defense = +3 in defense ranking(5th under Thib and 2nd after Thib)

Alas, real life is more complicated than just adding and subtracting.

    99.99% certain this was JVG

I'd bet good money it's Larry Brown. Alexander was chasing after him post-Rudy T, they're apparently friends on some level, and he's free again.

Yeah, agreed on Brown. I brought him up aways back and people had a conniption fit. Say what you want about this mercenary, but he's a great coach and fits our situation.

I could definitely get my mind around Sloan(despite him being the father of the Jazz and everything that goes with their teams), but I don't think he'll be available.

Fire Adelman, eh? That's like firing the chief of surgery when the orderlies are messing up.

Superstars without roleplayers don't really amount to much. Heat, anyone? JVG teams were actually elite teams, those teams won 50+ games. They just folded in the playoffs, which is what happens when your 3rd best guy is Rafer Brickston and you had Juwon Howard for a pf.

I'd be fine with Larry Brown. Or Mario, but just out of nostalgia. Or Vernon because it would be hilarious.

Ideally they keep Adelman. But I honestly don't think this team is going anywhere without a superstar, and I'm not sure when one is going to become available (I guess you never do).

If Les fires Adelman to get anyone other than Pops, Jackson, or RudyT. I'm out of here. I'll go find a new team to root for.

If I'm Adelman, I'd take my talents to South Beach.

Adelman quit on this team when Yao broke his foot. I don't know why people haven't realized it yet, maybe its because they can't tell due to his system still working, but RA quit on this team. Unless he's just stupid, and really believes writing pre-prepared lineups is the way to go regardless of who's hot and who's not. That playing Brooks 30+mins because he knows the offense is better than working with T-Will and making him understand the offense. That its better to sub in 4 people at the same time in a game. I can go and on and on, however the bottom line is I hope this is true, and I'm confident DM will find a better coach than Adelman. Hopefully, someone who's not past the age of 60 so he wouldn't be lazy in coaching the team.

When you're rebuilding, it is kind of a hinderance when you have a coach that is stuck in his ways and doesn't trust young talent. I realize we're trying to make the playoffs. But Adleman playing his favorite guys, even when they're ice cold, or obviously overmatched, is starting to get really old. The sad truth is, we're not going anywhere in the next year or two. We need to acknowledge this and start playing for next year, and not the next game. Don't get me wrong, I'd still want them to make the playoffs either way.

Depends what our direction will be. If we are rebuilding, it makes sense to change coaches. Plus, Rick didn't come here for a rebuilding stage. He came to win a title with Yao and Tmac. They're gone so maybe he should look for a better place. And JVG is not walking through that door. But I do feel he's the right coach for a rebuilding type team.

the average fan cannot see beyond their noses. They only want the low hanging fruit. I agree with what you say completely. We need to look beyond tomorrow or we will suck again for 4-7 years in stead of 2-3 years.
