I agree with Justice. I am not sure who exactly Alexander has in mind that's better than Adelman. Then again, they made a good hire when they replaced Van Gundy a few years ago, so I hope the front office and the owner would manage to make the right hire this time, too.

Adelman is probably the best coach after Phil Jackson, he got screwed out of a ring in Sacramento

We have a team without a star or a center and we managed to win .500 of our games, no other coach in the NBA could achieve that with this roster

have you noticed players always end up doing worse when they are traded away?? Adelman knows how to get the most out of each asset he has, without Adelman, Morey would be an average GM

A coaching change could be a disaster. The players that we have targeted are made for the Princeton offense, and have learned it for quite a while, it would be a pity to see the chemistry cut short. Les needs to back off and let Morey do his thing with the McGrady/Yao 40 million off the books.

Kyle Lowry has single handedly killed the notion that Daryl Morey is an average GM., but I agree, Rick does help.

No doubt DM would love to keep Adelman around for a few more years until Elston is ready to go.

I wouldn't mind Alexander looking to bring in a new coach that doesn't have too much experience.

If he lets Adelman walk away and decides to go after someone like Mike Brown... I'd be a little upset.

Most likely, Alexander thinks that Adelman's coaching and system isn't conducive to winning a championship or developing superstar players. If he doesn't renew Adelman's contract, he'll be looking to get a developmental coach instead.

In conclusion, Alexander is f'ing things up.

The rockets have really benefitted from real good, high end coaching. The coaching has outpaced the talent in my eyes. That said, Adelman has issues with morey and probably is ready to go. The heat would fire spolstra to hire adelman. I would like to see him coach a team with real superstars.

The rumors about Les looking to replace Adelman have the been there for the last couple of seasons.

I guess if they're not expecting to contend for the next few years he's not willing to fork out a premium for a top flight coach. Then again Les likes the big names.

Adelman has a reputation for being a bit prickly. Maybe he rubbed Les the wrong way.

If Adelman WANTS to coach here beyond this year, I would be absolutely horrified if Les cans him. If there are mutual acceptance that because the Rockets are going into full rebuilding mode, there's no reason for a coach like Adelman to stay, then I can accept a parting.

But only if Adelman also wishes to part ways.

If alexander think he can get better coach than Adelman, he is totally wrong, plus our players are fit in our princeton offense, changing adelman means whole a lot of other changes.

Kyle Lowry, Courtney Lee, Chase Budinger, Patrick Patterson, Carl Landry...

I think in the end though it will be Rick's decision. He's hinted at retirement and he may even want to go to another team...Lakers will be a huge job opening if Phil does indeed retire.

Rod Thorn retired from the Nets GM job last year citing personal reasons, ie he was too old and it had nothing to do with the Russian owner. A few months later he was hired as the Sixers's president.

Good because his system isn't built for superstars, it's suited more for players to play off of each other which is good yet when the game is on the line you need a ball stopper that can make plays or score at an elite clip.

We'll never get or develop that type of player under adelman, because he only wants players that play away from the ball which negates players that has all-star potential with the ball.

I liked our identity as a team better under Van Gundy. This is not to say I think he would do a better job than Rick with our current roster.

I remember back in like 05-07 we would give up 92 points a game or something r****ded like that. All the guys hustled. We had Flyin' Ryan shutting down Dirk, yet we were desolate on offense if Yao or Tracy weren't clicking.

Now we score a lot. But people just slash through the lane and throw down on us. I bet we gave up 20 dunks all season under JVG(an obvious exagerration). Not to say our guys aren't scrappy or don't hustle. We have plenty of that. But our identity is not a cohesive D unit.

Remember when Clyde's key to the game was "Be the first to score 90 points" every game because we won 95% of the time when that happened? I want that attitude back.

It's not all Adelman's defensive scheme. A lot of it has to do with personel, but I guarantee a defensive minded coach holds opponents to 5 fewer points at least with the same roster.

Someone said Adelman is the best coach behind Phil Jackson earlier in this thread. Maybe on offense.

There are only a handful of established, winning coaches that have both O and D down. Pop, Jackson, Brown? and . . . Sloan, oh wait . . .

The only team that got anywhere close to a championship playing super uptempo ball was the Suns five years ago. It won't happen unless you can stop someone, because no matter how much you can score, there will be a team that can figure out how to slow you down and you WILL go on shooting slumps for periods in a game.

If we do replace Rick, bring back defense. Not that I think our current roster has any chance of making it past the second round in the next five years, if that, but at least we can bring back that hard-nosed defense so people will know they are up for a fight when they come in town.
