I bought a 2.5'' SATA hard drive and case on eBay from separate sellers. I have put the HDD in the case and plugged it in to my laptop and the system recognizes it but I do not see it under my computer where I can load files/folders into it. I know it is probably something simple but does anybody have a quick fix?

If it is windows 7 you will see it in devices and printers. It may just need some sort of drivers installed. Right click on there and trouble shoot.

It is XP. I tried troubleshooting but it looks for drivers on a disc.....

Most 2.5" external hd comes with a mini usb and 2 USB plug and both must be plug into the computer.

..and like FrancisFan. If it's a brand new HD, it must be formatted.
