Don't be ridiculous. I'm so sick of people pulling the "racist card" just because a statement involves racial differences. Especially when someone is trying to be funny. If it was wrong and racist to point out differences between races than Def Comedy Jam would have never existed. Ooops I just did it.
The team is playing much better and the offense is much more fluid since the departure of Battier and the increased mpg given to CBud and CLee. Great to see the young guys shine out there.
Calling someone CB10 is more offensive than being racist. NBA nicknames. So you're telling me you didn't read this entire article without Shane Battier's name in it and think about Shane Battier?
It wouldn't surprise me if all the talk about Morey trading up to get an All-Star actually encouraged him to decrease his trade value ... and I don't think he was the only one. It didn't work for Brooks ... but now that the deadline is passed, Budinger can continue his progress. It's not always so good to refer to your players as "assets."
Budinger has great off ball movements, and he has been getting all his points that way too. His mental fragility is still a worry, and I wouldn't mind trading him for a star (in fact I can bet any GM during the off-season would be asking for C-Bud if we were to trade for a star). But it seems like Bud has no ball handling game whatsoever. He doesn't go for screen and rolls much at all, nor does he often try to dribble and around and drive in. And C-Bud needs more ferocity in his dunks. We haven't had those since Landry.
CH was joking about the "Pale" comparison. Sorry you didn't get it. Bud is also much better than some folks here think.
I noticed that watching the game and thought it was really interesting. We rarely get a "window" on what Adelman is thinking with regard to his players and possible trades. Makes me wonder what Coach Adelman's other opinions are on his players, both before and after the deadline. Hopefully, he'll write a book someday after he retires, telling all. I'm waiting for Morey's book, as well, but that's going to be a long wait compared to Rick.
I remember someone (Worrell or Bullard?) saying last year that Rudy T was impressed with Bud and said Budinger was gonna be a star. So, I guess we got 2 Rocket coaches thinking highly of Bud the Dinger.
It would be interesting, especially considering the team has done well after starters have been traded.
But Bud the Dinger (lol!) has taken to his new role as a starter and produced at a higher level than I expected when he got his chance, and this is coming from a long time fan of the Dinger. Can he keep it up? Can his defense, which has improved from horrible to mediocre, become average? Bud's always had a beautiful jumper, even when he's not hitting them, and clearly has some serious hops. Yes, his ball handling needs a heck of a lot of work, but like Luis, he can drive to the basket and moves very well without the ball, a skill a lot of players never "get." I'm really encouraged.
I agree he's looked good as a starter. I'm a bit concerned about his 3 pt shot, he's gone from 37% to 32%, when it's usually the other way around for young guys. That was the knock on him at Arizona, that he really didn't become the star everyone expected, which is why I am a little concerned. He's so talented though, I think he has nice upside.
