You didn't say Sessions "sucks", but you did act like it was outrageous to compare him to Lowry. Wins and losses and being passed around bottom dweller teams was part of your reasoning.
I don't think Brooks' ego is or would be any different than 80% of players in that same position. When someone shows you the faith in your ability, you wouldnt want them resorting to "lowball" and cheapening measures of your ability for their own personal gain. Basically accepting that they have leverage on you for "making you" be the player that you are. Its a two-way thing, if they sincerely give you a chance, you SINCERELY give them the effort. Just to be rewarded with lack of sincerity. If they showed you the "love" the beginning, its not unreasonable want to want that show of love at the end. But its a business and thats how things go.
That's the crux. There was too much of a disconnect between the Rockets' measure of Brooks' ability and his own.
Yeah unless Brooks wanted the Trevor Ariza "expand my game" route accepting midlevel money to fire up shots to his hearts content on another mediocre team somewhere, I'm sure Brooks would have accepted a bench/starter role on the Rockets if he were given the "Jason Terry" money. Cuz the price given to him woulda justified his perceived skill level. That woulda been a bit much I think. I dont think he was Tony Parker-esque like he was made out to be mostly because he couldnt compensate for his lack of size on the defensive side of the ball. I don't think Lowry's much better, if even better at all. Lowry's different skills produced similar scoreboard results, and he somehow beat Brooks to the contract punch, and thats just what it is now. If we're gonna say Ramon Sessions can give you Kyle Lowry results as a lower price, we can say Kyle Lowry's giving Aaron Brooks results at lower price
When I say "lowball" I don't mean we intentionally try to lower his value just so we can save a few bucks. Brooks is the one lowering his own value(not entirely his fault), I just meant we were in a position to take advantage, IF we wanted to keep him. Apparently we did not, OR we decided some team was going to overpay him anyways. With that in mind, the rest of what you are saying doesn't make much sense. There is no lack of sincerity on the Rocket's part. Adelman's job is to play to win and his rotational decisions were based on that. You can bet that he WISHED that Brooks played well enough to start again. But he didn't. If anything, Adelman gave him too long of a leash, trying to let him play his way back into shape, costing us at least a few Ws. Can't really blame Adelman either. He was showing exactly the "sincerity" and "love" you are talking about. The Rockets did not bench AB to be able to "lowball" him later. They benched him at first because he was just coming off an injury while Lowry was playing exceptionally well. And they kept him on the bench because 1. he never outplayed Lowry again 2. he hurt the team while on the floor. The fact that he walked out on the team in one of our most important games of the year, and then "wanted out" before getting traded, looks to me like a player who's head got too big and bit the hand that was feeding him. Anyways I think we are getting off on a tangent here. I really didn't want to talk about Brooks in this thread. Back on topic. Lowry. Beast.
This thread was made incredibly prematurely. In the spirit of levelheadedness I put a bunch of ceilings on Lowry's ceiling in the OP. Since then he has pooped on all those ceilings. I thought I was a Lowry fan but in fact I was a Lowry hater by underestimating him so. I will never make that mistake again Mr. Lowry. In the 6 games since the trade deadline he has averaged: 18.3 points 3.8 rebounds 7.8 assists 2.2 turnovers 2.8 3PT FGs 51%FG 43%3PT 34 minutes That is an Assist/Turnover ratio of 3.6. Not bad for a "placeholder". I know what you are thinking. It is only 6 games. Not enough sample size. And I wholeheartedly agree. Because 6 games is not near enough to show how awesome this guy is playing as his numbers keep increasing by the game. His new ceiling is a bigger stronger CP3. Who is more clutch and plays better defense. Who shoots better. And is better looking. No homo. A little homo.
I'm not sure if you're being serious, but if you are, you've officially lost it. First Lowry was as good as Rondo, now he's a better version of Chris Paul...Why stop there? Why isn't he the next Magic Johnson or Oscar Robertson?
lol @ more clutch than Chris Paul. I'm sure management would trade for Chris Paul in a second to being the starting PG here in Houston.
His jumper is better than Rondo's. His assist numbers would be through the roof if he played with Garnett, Pierce and Allen. I'm starting to think that upgrading to Paul isn't what this team needs. We just need a legit big esp if Budinger can keep it up. Deron Williams, Rose, and Westbrook..sure but that's not happening. Sure. DM will always upgrade at any position but I don't think he would mortgage the future for Paul.
First of all I never, EVER, said that he was as good as Rondo. In fact I specifically said he wasn't. Second of all, I was clearly out of my mind as Lowry is light years better than Rondo. Third of all, why in the world would anyone compare Lowry to Magic Johnson or Oscar Robertson. They have completely different body types and Magic Johnson is much taller and they look nothing alike, silly! Finally, no I am not being serious. But then again, I've never taken any of your posts seriously either. So no harm done! DISCLAIMER: I am not sure whether you are comparing him TO Magic Johnson or saying he HAS magic Johnson. If it is the latter then I claim no prior knowledge of that. Though I can't say I'm entirely surprised.
ok....stop with the sporadic assumptions. Chill out. Lowry is having a good stretch. CP3 has proven himself beyond measure, don't begin the comparison, or at least lowry is in a position to do so. Comparing him to rondo is unfair to say the least.
If only the rest of the NBA (over)valued the Rockets' players the same way clutchfans does then all these assets would have gotten us two or three elite players by now. You sure you claim no prior knowledge? Here's what you said in regards to Lowry:
why do people discredit rondo like that? that he gains off of the big 3 and thats it. He did his 2nd season when they won the championship but he was the best player on the entire team last season, the team that made it to the finals. Not to mention he is a 1st all NBA defensive pg. Homerism need not get in the way friend.
Uh Rondo has carried the "Big 3" in some of the recent playoff series. They benefit from playing with him.
<INSERT VERY ORIGINAL COMEBACK: "LOL YOU THINK LOWRY IS BETTER THAN <INSERT SOME PG>, YOU OBVIOUSLY DON'T KNOW <INSERT EXPLETIVE> ABOUT BASKETBALL">
particularly last year. I don't know how many times garnett, allen, or even Doc have actually come out and specifically said "He carried them." the guy maybe as obnoxious and wierd goblin looking as can be , but I've actually learned to see him for his play. I hated him since the rafer scuffle but hes competitive thats all
