If dogfighting in the DR was legal, would you be saying the same thing? You have a conflict of interest in this argument because of the station rivalry anyways. Whether you think it is dumb or not, no athlete after the Vick dogfighting incident, should ever mention being somewhere for a bloodsport involving animals. The whole world is super sensitive, despite whether you think it should be. Someone from Peta will protest this. It was dumb, dumb, dumb in this day in age whether you think that is the way it should be or not.
the single worst thing to happen to sports radio since those "monsters of the midday" clowns. actually, worse than those two. that is the most unlistenable "sports" show I've ever heard.
I'm sorry, but I won't require of him or any other athlete to walk on eggshells because people are "sensitive". WTH is this, 1984? All we talk about any more is who's "offended". This country needs to grow the hell up.
It's inevitable, but the Vick thing is a horrible analogy to this. KJ did not take part in the ****-fighting (based on evidence), meanwhile Vick was basically running an entire dog-fighting organization. The scale of difference here is massive.
i'm sad to say i had rep for you. i don't listen to sports radio all that often cause 98.9% of the time it blows (no offense mattj), but i'll turn it one when i go out on the porch for a smoke. i swear to god, every time i do, it's him either talking about his girlfriend or lack thereof, or him begging people to say they like him. el terrible.
Agreed, but it is not up to you or me. It's up to the sensitive people, sadly, because they are the ones who b**** and complain. I think Twitter needs to have a warning that says "Are you sure you want to post this? You realize everyone is going to read this, right?" If I was a professional athlete, especially one with suspect playing ability, the only thing I would tweet about is how hard I am working out in the offseason. No one gets offended at that.
i get that, you get that and i'm sure mlwoo gets that. unfortunately, as evidenced by the media here already, a lot of people won't get that so it's pretty dumb to put yourself in that situation.
Vick running a gambling organization wasn't what makes people hate him. Killing animals is. If it's legal, it doesn't make it right was my point. What Kareem did was innocent enough, but man, EVERYONE in the world reads that ****. You have to think before you tweet.
Well you don't have to employ someone who attends cockfights and advertises it. I'm sure the Texans will have to give it some credence.
What if he were smoking pot in Peru (apparently legal for personal use) and tweeting about that? Would that be O.K.?
Oh, absolutely. He just through a huge bass in a kiddie pool for the sensationalistic "journalists" to catch and go tell the world about. The correct analogy would be: what if he witnessed someone smoking pot in Peru and tweeted about that? Would that be OK? The answer is that it would be a stupid thing to do, but it doesn't make what he did wrong. There is no evidence that he participated in the cockfighting or put money on it.
