TEXNIFICENT just can't admit when he is wrong That's too bad. But some people will change the subject the moment they know they are wrong. So the team is in 11th place. What has that got to do with the original topic of bashing Hayes and putting Hill up there where he doesn't belong. The team can't win anything with either one at center and that is a fact. Chuck is better than Hill right now and that is unfortunately for the Rockets, a fact also. That's a lottery #8 and he can't get off the bench, beat out by Miller. Ouch.
A starting lineup of Battier, Lowry, and Hayes used to just blow my mind. However, I have seen Hayes and Lowry play way above expectations. I still say they don't start on most NBA teams. Battier was a defensive specialist but an offensive liability. I think you have to consider matchups and Hayes against two seven footers was not working out. Adelman is very, very stubborn. I am not saying he isn't a great coach, his record speaks for itself. I just think the Rockets need a younger more progressive coach. Keep the offense, improve the defense. Give some players a chance. Without moving Battier and Brooks, you would not be seeing Lee and C-Bud blossom. Incidently, Brooks will come back to haunt the Rockets. He is a potential All Star.
It's okay, we have a future hall of famer on our bench so that neutralizes trading away an all-stair guard
If we have a future HOFer on our bench, now would be a good time to roll him out. I still say we virtually gave Brooks away and will regret it.
i made this thread...when i did make this thread Shane was still starting and was providing no offense and when you had the chuckwagon and shane in the starting 5 its like you where playing 3 on 5 on the offensive side and 3 on 5 on the denfensive side...Jordan Hill at that time was playing along side Brad Miller (just like patterson is now) and was playing huge. So yeah way to dig out OLD threads. I still think Jordan Hill will be better than Chuck Hayes in the long run if Rick ever decides to play him. how quickly we forget. <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/kuj-daW2bc8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
As much as I like to bash people who criticize the coach and turn out to be wrong, we ALL thought that this team needed to at least TRY Hill at center. Well, we tried him and he sucked, oh well. But anyone who STILL thinks Hill will be even close to the player Hayes is, is beyond delusional.
Do you just refuse to acknowledge that we are playing with one of the biggest handicaps in the entire league? Every single day I get on here there are people talking like we never had Yao Ming and act as if his 17.7 Million Dollar butt isn't like a giant freaking anchor holding us back EVERY SINGLE GAME. And were still above .500, what do you people expect? Take the best player off ANY team in the nba.... La, Boston, SA and Portland look to be the only teams in my opinion that could whether a storm like that with similar or better success than we did. And only portland is built somewhat similar to us and knows the pain that we do. Although I will argue to the end that Yao meant more to us than any of the guys Portland has lost to injury. Pisses me off to no end when people don't look at the whole picture and act like they know what they are talking about. Take Dirk off of dallas are you suddenly going to blame tyson chandler for them only hovering around .500? No, because an intelligent fan would realize that Dirk makes 17.3 million and what he does is nearly impossible to replace. Stars make teams, role players, coaches, EVERYBODY look better. And when they are absent, they make it hard as hell to contend. It seems like every couple weeks there is a new guy to blame for our record.... martin, lowry, brooks, hayes, adelman, morey, have all been blamed at one point or another for our record when it seems so obvious to me that when playing down 17.7 million in a salary cap league you are playing with a HUGE disadvantage.
Its not just Yao. Aaron Brooks provided basically less than nothing this season. Yao and Brooks -- arguably our two most important players heading into the season -- gave us nothing. And we're supposed to bash our starters (who have mostly outscored opposing units) for being at .500? Yeah, ok.
You don't have to conjecture about what the Mavs would be like without Dirk, they got blown out by Detroit, Indiana, and Toronto in three straight games earlier this year when he was out. But ya, most of these fans are bandwagoners and frontrunners, people don't lie when they say negative things about Houston fans. They can't all be as rational and real fans as you or I.
When the 5 usual starters played together, they outscored opponents by 160 points in 796.5 minutes, roughly 9.4 points per 48 minutes. That's more than solid performance compared to other "best 5" http://basketballvalue.com/topunits.php?year=2010-2011&sortnumber=3&sortorder=DESC
Since when did Jordan grow to 6'10"???????? He was measured with shoes to be 6'9" Actual heights 6' 8.5" Pater cake looks like he is no more than 6'7" surely he would be so more than a Small forward???
Interesting. On a side note, I was looking at all lineups the Rockets have used this year and one of two things was involved in every single bad lineup: AB and KM on the floor together Jordan Hill on the floor at all AB without KM actually had very good numbers, surprising a bit.
That is simply because both are horrible defenders. If teams can walk all over you on 1 end and you are just trying to keep up on the other end it doesn't work. AB or KM had to go at the deadline to help the team, considering KM was having one of his best seasons and AB his worst, I think it was a pretty clear answer, unless of course someone would overpay for KM, but it didn't sound like we got any of those offers. (aka Melo for a KM + more package)
by this logic we should be starting thabeet. hight isnt everything. chuck is a better post defender. he's better at the defensive rotations. he's a better passer...
With Chuck's improvement on the offensive side of things, I think it's safe to say he's better on both ends of the court. Chuck is averaging 7 points a game this year on 55% shooting. And he's improved to 66% from the line.
Yeah I know but it's still very shocking to me that our most-used bench lineup (AB, Lee, Bud, PPat, Miller) is a +9 per 48. Add that to our old starters being +10 per 48, and it seems like Adelman may have been to blame.
