Jeffries is the starting center for the NY Knicks!!! I found this to be pretty funny. The "Tip Before 10" blog on nba.com says that they might keep him at the starting 5 even after Turiaf heals up. The Knicks seem to have some kind of fetish with Jeffries. Here's the Box Score from the 3/7 game to prove it. http://www.nba.com/games/20110307/UTANYK/gameinfo.html?ls=gt2hp0021000942#nbaGIboxscore
Half this board was like why not start him @ 5 when the opposition was a bit too tall for Chuck to handle. I swear Adelman is so........
Jared Jeffries is an excellent player. His plus minus has always been a strength. Great intangible guy. Great help defender.
cause he sucks? ok, that's a bit harsh, and not that Chuck Hayes is an all-star or anything, but the Knicks are down to Jeffries because it's either him or an injured Turiaf. They may keep Jeffries as their starter when Turiaf returns? Wow, ringing endorsement. Still, Jeffries IS a better fit with them.
The Knicks situation is now perfect for Jeffries. With Amare, Melo, and Billups, they have enough guys that need the ball ... all Jeffries has to do is play defense. I think the guy is a solid player to have on your team, but we already had a better version of him in Chuck Hayes. As far as his time with the Rockets, there is no way we would've won with Hayes, Jeffries, and Battier all getting consistent minutes and all being limited offensive threats (Jeffries being the worst of the three on offense).
Good for Jared. He deserves it. Dont think for a minute that he isnt valuable or that he sucks just because he didn't play for much the Rockets. The truth is, the Rockets front office and coaching staff knew that it was much more important in the long run that Jordan Hill and Patrick Patterson get the available minutes because they were the only shot of getting them over the top this year if they developed into something great. That didn't happen and it look like now that if Jefferies would have got Hill's minutes then it could have really helped the defense, and maybe helped win a game or two more. Also if this team would have won the summer of Lebron and picked up a superstar like Lebron, Jefferies would have played a much bigger role over guys like Hill and Patterson. He's a good solid veteran big who knows his role, busts his butt, knows his limitations, and is solid in the locker room. Im glad to see him get big minutes on a playoff team.
Knicks chick has a nice reaction to Jared Jeffries coming back. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5k-cm4mh5oQ
