I'm interested, of course, but I was interested in Skyline when I saw the first preview too...but I'll watch almost anything that's Sci-Fi.
Is there enough substance to this film to elevate it above films like "Independence Day" and "The War of the Worlds" (Tom Cruise version)? I highly doubt it. I expect it to have the same feeling. I'm just expecting another popcorn flick where you check your brain at the door. I have heard that it was made as some sort of tribute to the troops paying homage. That said...I want to see it on a large screen.
Critics shmitics. Come down from the clouds and smell the hamburgers every once in a while, you talka-talka film loving schmucks.
Yep, when they aren't screened for critics at all, that's never a good sign. Most studios will have critics wait until a certain date to release their reviews, typically a few days before the release.
It's obvious this movie will suck major balls. Jonathan Liebesman? I'm pretty sure people is going to get sick in theatres watching the camera shake from this turd. This is Transformers meet Skyline.
Didn't even see it. The first trailer for Skyline had me pumped...all the subsequent previews made me increasingly skeptical. And then the reviews hit. With Battle: LA, so far the opposite has happened. Every trailer I've seen has left me wanting more. Not to mention you got a recognizable cast. And unless it's at around 10% on Rottentomatoes, I'm not gonna care so much what the critics think.
You should watch it, the entire way through. I thought it was meh until the ending. The ending was different. If nothing else, there are cool effects and lots of fight scenes vs aliens. What's not to love there?
I'll probably give it a go on netflix ...but after those reviews came out, definitely wasn't gonna spend money to see it in the theater.
Too bad Charlie Sheen isn't in this one I guess. I would pay to see aliens rip him apart in full gore detail while he tells the alien how he is "winning". No early reviews is a definite sign of suckedness...as was mentioned. Looks like a rental but I'll wait for some reviews here before I make a final decision.
I saw a TV spot, and the dialogue looked pretty bad. There is a marine rallying his fellow soldiers talking about they are fighting for their country... when all of humanity and the planet is being overrun by killer aliens. Just... rang hollow and was not inspiring. I'll be very sad if this sucks because I love the idea of it. Shaky camera looks like the rule of the day though, for sure.
I wasn't sure I might enjoy the movie, I am afraid of another dumb transformy movie...then I slapped myself a couple times and realized...aliens, assault weapons..explosions...shooting... I'm seeing it...leave the women at home!. . .
Similar to the speech the president gave in "Independence Day". Every alien movie needs a crappy speech to inspire the actors into blue screen action. "Today, we celebrate Mardi Gras Day! Let's go kick some alien butt. Yee haw! Semper Fi!"
Here's a review... 2 out of 5 stars. http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/801933/battle_los_angeles_review.html
1 rotten and 1 fresh ...I think it's just gonna boil down to whether or not you care if the story and characters are cliche and flat.
Ne-Yo is in this movie people. Ne-Yo. I'm predicting it will be a ****bomb. Friend of mine invited me up to Conroe for a crawfish cookout though, and he said they're going to see Battle of LA afterwards. I'll have to think about it, because home**** makes damn good craw. I'd probably sit through Glitter as long as I got some of them critters.
