Courtney is becoming my undisputed favorite rocket, he's always had the defensive prowess, but now with extended minutes, his offensive game is becoming great as well. He deserves to be a starter right now, unfortunately that can't happen with Martin being our most prolific scorer. With the shortened rotation he is getting heavy minutes anyway, could you imagine what this guy would have done for the Bulls had that trade gone down? His extended PT is the main reason we are making a late surge for the playoffs, don't let him go this off-season Morey, the kid is a keeper
No, hes the spark off the bench that we have been looking for. He is like Lowry from last year, playing with energy.
Lol @ the Bulls. They are already bad@$$ as is. CL would make insanely good. Who knows what the trade details were. If they were lee for asik straight up, the Bulls would have pulled a Morey on Morey!
exactly right, i said he deserved to be a starter, not that he will be or that i want him to be. I love his game
Loved the trade in August and really didn't understand why so many just assumed it was a salary dump. CLee is a starting caliber SG but instead maybe a candidate for 6th man of the year...next year, if Kevin is still here.
I feel foolish for thinking the trade was uneven..not at the time of the trade but early in the season. I will gladly eat crow like I did with Bud on that call.
I have maintained that our improved play has been wholly a result of getting rid of Brooks, and to a lesser extent getting Dragic. I have however downgraded trading Battier for more Budinger/Lee from a major loss to a minor loss. The question I am honestly tinkering with now is whether it was really a no loss, or even a gain? Budinger has played slightly better, but really he has shot well for awhile now and only getting more opportunities as a starter. The real "revelation" has been Courtney Lee. Before the trade he was getting 15, some times 20 minutes. There were a few instances where he got under 10. Going from that to 30 now, his impact is really being felt full force. Defensively, from a match up perspective he gives us more options compared to Battier. He can go from large PGs- Dwill, to dynamic SGs- Roy, Thorton, Gordon, to some SFs. I would give the edge in individual defense to Lee, as Battier has become much more of the team/glue defensive guy as he has aged. Offensively it really isn't even close. Lee is a better shooter, and is currently probably top 3 on the team in creating for himself. All in all is he a better player(overall impact) than Battier now that he is getting more minutes? I don't think it is as one sided or easy of an answer as some will make it out to be, but I AM starting to ask the question now.
Courtney has always been solid. I watched him a but while he was with Orlando and even though he choked in the Finals, he did very well as rookie starting SG for a Championship contender. I never understood why people b****ed soooo much about the Ariza trade, to me I was just happy getting rid of Ariza, and stealing Lee was just a huge bonus. I'm glad he's getting more minutes now and he's reminding me more of Von Wafer without the boneheadedness and a lot of grit on defence.
are you tired of being wrong. Please don't tell me you also believed jhill was a better prospect than bud...
Lee was getting more than that 6-7 games before the trade. This was when Adelman decided to give Battier minutes at PF to open up playing time for Lee. He responded to the opportunity and that might have also helped them on their decision to trade away Battier.
From what I read, Morey was asking for Asik + the Bobcats' 2012 (lotto protected) 1st rounder. Chicago was only willing to give 2 1st rounders that were NOT the Bobcats pick.
