i like below the rim's rocket/logo....and the logo on the back of the jersey, but i'm not sure i'm digging the changed "rockets" font. I'd rather keep the old one.
Nice try but the NBA wouldn't allow this. The Rockets actually tried this once before. When Eiko Ishioka (fashion designer who designed currently logo & uniforms) came up with her designs for the Rockets uniforms, they were supposed to use the Rockets current primary R logo on the front of the uniforms. Not the first time we've seen this concept before, some college teams were using that design concept at the time.... Long story short, NBA Properties struck down Ishioka's idea and the R logo was moved to the side panels of the shorts, replaced by the current Rockets script nameplate.
Honestly, Id prefer this idea as a way to ax the vapor trails and still show movement within the logo. The gradient reminds me of the early Heat logos before it was modified for the move into AAA.... But the elliptical ring would have to remain as its supposed to emulate both an outer space orbital and a basketball hoop. The ring just fits this R logo.
Anyone else notice the ball boys tonight wearing some Rockets hats with some yellow? Might have been a Mardi Gras thing...or maybe someone in the organization saw this thread? Here's my two cents on the logo and jersey situation: 1) Create a retro but new logo (similar to what Golden State did) I like the direction that josephnicks is going, but I would make the logo look less like our '72-'95 logo At the same time, I love the font on the logo (/jerseys) from the Championship years, so thumbs up to josephnicks for that I would add in the Houston skyline or a Rocket behind the text. Maybe blend it in with the basketball 2) Get rid of the sweater vest cut (as many people have already asked for). I've always liked the Lakers/Mavs cut, but honestly I'd be happy with the plain old jersey cut like the Spurs/rest of league 3) 'Rockets' on white home jerseys and 'Houston' on the red road jerseys with the same font from Championship years. The current alternate jerseys actually grew on me, I just hate the font and think there is too much yellow. I'm open to having yellow on the logo, but maybe tone it down on the jerseys - some subtle yellow piping or stripes would look good. I think if the Rockets organization listened to this feedback, something could be created that would be timeless and last forever. It would be a nice mix of retro from the glory years mixed with some new school flavor. The current jerseys are on season 7, the clown costumes lasted 7 seasons, and the Championship jerseys lasted 18 seasons...I think its time for a change.
I don't think the Current Rockets logo needs to be changed, but I made this one for fun. It could be cool on some apparel. I do think that our current jerseys need a change. I am in LOVE with the alternate though. Everybody looks good in a Rockets alternate- players & fans.
will post some jerseys, basically wanted to keep the current colors add a new font with the old logo. The home and away jersey design are inspired the Houston Universitys jersey during the Aakeem/Drexler era!
awesome job!! thread winner. Im not sure about the black uniform/. Dont like the rockets name at angle. It should be straight. Other than that the red and the white uniforms look sick. Would be interesting to see a yellow red and white version. you are the man .
I actually am pretty fond of the current logo myself. I feel nostalgic looking at the older logo, but from a pure asthetic viewpoint, I like the current one much better. No change for now, please.
tbh that font looks way to coyboyish western.. the unis look like it might work for san antonio but not houston.. and the black jerseys look like the blazers.. oh and no to black jerseys...
