Yeah because if there's anybody who has a good track record in this area, it's the GOP birthers and nutjobs in the House who are running these hearings.

In other threads before I've posted the FBI statistics on terrorism caused by Muslims in the U.S. I think it's less than 5%. I can't remember off hand. It's definitely less than 8%.

As for the other acts it isn't even necessarily Christian extremism, but it is extremist groups that aren't linked to Islam. Yes they are definitely under scrutiny. I don't deny that.

But the matter is that only one group is being singled out by King and his investigation into that group's extremism. This is despite the fact that other congressman have asked King to include the groups which actually posed the greatest threat. King declined.

This focus on one group not based on the severity or immediacy of threat posed, but on something different naturally leads people to ask why single this group out? It isn't surprising the bigotry and xenophobia are suspected.

Yeah, that's my biggest worry, is that this will be some kind of witch hunt run by "git outta mah kountray!" mooslim haters. I guess I felt like being hopeful instead of cynical this morning.

So not reporting an extremist who you know is planning terrorist activities is okay? I think that IS the communities job.... you want real Muslims to look the other way when it comes to extremism?

if you read my post, I wrote "do I wish they get reported, sure"

if you read my post i didn't say anything about planning terrorist plots, which i think if you don't report knowing a crime is about to be committed may actually be illegal.

maybe i wasn't specific enough, but its just not reporting a guy who maybe radical.

Ok but you also posted this:

The bolded part is why I asked you the 2nd question, because it's illegal, it would be the communities responsibility (as americans) no?
    thanks for the clarification.

If you don't have a clear enemy, it might be strategic to manufacture one.

This has an eerie similarity to the infamous Salem Witch Trials...
