He will have to shape up quick because he's already fallen off the vaunted Mark Eaton trajectory.

Agreed. and i think it's funny that many fans just assume that if someone blocks shots, that they are a good defender. Of course, it's a great defensive statistic, but often times doesn't tell the whole story.

case in point, a friend of mine emails me that patterson, hill, and thabeet combined for 5 blocks in 25 minutes against Indy. Of course having watched the game, I could confidently say that of the three, only patterson played any real defense. In fact, does everyone remember when Thabeet came into the game in garbage time? he had a thundering block ...but that was after leting a pacer waltz into the paint and post up for an easy bucket. Thabeet didn't even put his hands up.

My point is that Thabeet may be a natural shot blocker. he may be able to come in right now and block 4 shots a game over 30 minutes. But he doesn't defend and he fouls like a machine. He's got a long long way to go and certainly is not playable in anything but garbage time.

but i'm rooting for him. Praying CD is a miracle worker.

Stop with the hating, we all know thabeet has no offensive game what so ever! So why are the likes of the dream and what not are being brought up... All we need thabeet to do is play D that is it. That is why he was brought to houston.

then you will complain how rox can win if they play 4 against 5 or maybe 3 against 5 including hayes in the lineup.

he's going to end up like that other guy that wanted to be the next Olajuwon. Olawakandi.

Sadly Olawakandi will probably end up with a better career than Thabeet.

Why are you even talking if you haven't seen the Rockets play all season?

Btw, the Rockets are a top 5 offense this year while playing "3 on 5". So I think we MIGHt be able to handle it.

before opening your mouth, make sure you know what you are talking.

i have been a league pass subscriber since NBA started this program. i am not interested in spending money and not watching. I an not a fan of any team except rox. do you get what i am talking?

i have a question for you. how long have you been watching rox games?

    ???

I was just responding to the rookie who thought DonnyMost and I were 'hating'.

I wouldn't mind him turning into Cato minus the big contract.

It occurred to me that the one guy we should hire to coach Thabeet is Greg Ostertag. Like Thabeet, Ostertag's best physical feature is that he's huge. The rap on Thabeet (according to Feigan) is that he's not been very motivated to improve. Ostertag had the same rap but managed to carve out a long and lucrative career as an effective starting C on playoff teams as well as Jerry Sloan whipping boy.

In any case, perhaps Thabeet doesn't have the "love of the game," worth ethic or intensity of guys like Olajuwon, Mutombo or Yao and, if so, I don't think you can change his personality all of a sudden. Maybe the best thing to do is to get an Ostertag-type mentor to teach him how to succeed in the NBA without really trying.

Yes. Yes. This needs serious investigative research!!

DNA samples will be needed and of course Maury Povich will have to show the results live on TV.

We will also need extra security so that Geraldo Rivera does not show up and draw a map in the sand that HATER insurgents could follow and then start chanting Hasheem "NOT THE DEKE" Thabeet.

    That would be bad.
