I was playing football at the beach and while trying to catch a pass (running and looking backwards) jammed my big right toe on a rock. I knew it was either a) dislocated or b) broken. Obviously i was hoping it was dislocated but it turned out to be fractured. The day I broke my toe it was incredible pain, I had to load up on painkillers and that night was brutal too. The doc bandaged the big toe and the toe next to it together so it would straighten, and she gave me this neat little shoe that basically velcro, it's really comfortable. Since Wednesday it hasn't hurt that much and each day it hurts less. The first 3 days I had to use crutches but I went out last night to a get together and didn't have to use them, as well as all of today. I can walk, I just walk slow and with a limp. I can also drive (with my left). I go to my therapist tomorrow and he'll likely tell me the details. The purpose of the thread is can anybody tell me how long it'll take until I can walk normally, not sprint, play sports, do breakdancing.... walk. Ultra Music Festival is the 25th and I've had my tickets bought since November and i'd rather amputate my toe then miss that so I'd like to anybody who's broken the big toe or a doctor what the time line is until I can do normal stuff. I've had my share of broken bones so some pain is tolerable, and don't give me two month or 5 weeks type of bull****.
For a broken toe, it's usually 4-6 weeks, but can go up to 8 weeks if it's bad. If I had to guess, I'd say 6 weeks for it to completely heal. If you're just wanting it to heal enough by the 25th for the Music Festival, then based on what you've said, I think you're in good shape. Pugs
I'll tell you what Captain Beefheart would do - he would find a woman to hold his big toe and you need to do the same, TracyMacAddidas.
I broke my big toe in high school. There was really nothing the doctor could do about it. He told me to stay off of it. My high school basketball coach didn't think it was that serious. Anyway, I could run all day, I just couldn't stop. The pain was rarely bad. It probably took 2-3 weeks before I was able to cut and stop with it. Sounds like yours is worse than mine was.
