Tell you what: I'll take charge of the jersey movement. I'll give you guys a week from today (next Friday) before I go through this thread and pick out the submissions. Until then, post as many mark ups as you want of your design and gather all the critiques/suggestions you need. Try to have your final jersey and/or logo posted in this thread by next Friday. I'll make a poll next friday asking CF.net which jerseys/colors they prefer, then maybe we can make this into a bigger movement involving facebook or bombaring the Rockets with a page we setup with the winning logo/jersey combination. At the least, we'll guarantee that someone will take notice. rockets43 -- one suggestion that could pay huge dividends. Change the road jerseys to say "Houston" instead of Rockets. That's how the championship era jerseys were and I think a lot of fans liked that.
I think the problem here is the shade of colors being used...thats not the right red on the jersey or the right yellow. That's why it comes off looking like a heat uniform with the added black. Also, maybe we should focus on two different color combos instead of joining them. Have a red/yellow/white uni + logo and then another with the current colors, red, white and silver/grey + logo. I'm not sure if the logo and unidesign should be the same though or completely different. Do you think that would look better if you made the red part into silhoutte of a rocket? Hopefully this makes sense: The rocket can look like it took off from the bottom of the R and wrapped around the ball. The front of the rocket would be just short of reaching the H in houston.
i like that remake of the oldschool logo. and does everyone like the shape of our current uniforms? the tanktop jerseys look alot better to me for some reason.
I can't believe you are working on that logo in Photoshop. If you did it as a vector image in Illustrator, you could resize it to your liking without losing quality. Nice concept by the way.
I think the design is clean, I just can't get over the "HR". Reminds me too much of the Human Resources department at my office.
i understand what your saying, i was playing around with the idea of a secondary logo involving the basketball with an HR and perhaps i could use that idea you suggested.. as far as the primary logo i think the key is simplicity. its close enough to the classic logo to make people feel nostalgic but modern enough to feel new.. ------ as far as jerseys go, yellow should only be used as piping or trim, very lightly to accent the red and white. an all yellow jersey would be an eyesore. REMEMBER, SIMPLICITY
For road jersey/alternate uniform, they should say "Houston" instead of "Rockets". After all, I am very impressed with those jerseys. Great job!
Thanks, your right about Houston being on the away and alt jerseys. I also put 2 options for the shorts because i can't decide which one i like better.
I don't think anybody wants to see a logo with "HR" on it. It seems too corporate looking and reminds me (and I'm sure I'm not the only one) of the Human Resources department at work. No other team in the league uses the first letter of their city and team in the logo -- only colleges do that. Not that it's bad to be different, I just don't think it works. I'd personally like to see a modernized version of the old logo (hence my user name!)
Yes, much better. Oh man, this is the 100% perfect jerseys that everyone in Houston definitely wants Rockets to wear, no doubt.
^^ do those shorts also have the stripe on the sides?? I don't think it would look good if it didn't match the jersey.
rockets43 -- looks great! Also, just another suggestion, but I really liked clutch citizen's style for the back of the jerseys: With the logo centered on top of the name.. I think that's a pretty cool modern trend that today's NBA teams have.
This one is nice too. So far joesphnicks and this one have looked the best, and close to the original with a nice touch up
Rocket43 owns this thread (where you been lurking these past two years?), can't wait for the poll. Josephnicks, I really like your logos as well. Not sure about the offset lettering sticking out on the bottom left, though. Is that by design? Have you tried it with a different center point?
I was worried that the concept looked like a corporate logo but that comes with keeping it simple. Main idea was to keep it graphically simple so it reads well from a distance. Anyway to each his own and can't please everyone.
