The last 3 girl performances were the best. Kendra was also good. I still think the guys overall are stronger.
They need to ban Fallin' by Alicia Keys from now on. It has become the new "it" song that freakin girl thinks that she HAS to sing. Like Whitney Houston's "I will always love you" c/o Dolly Parton of course, and even before that, "Crazy." Everything else sounds karaoke to the original version. And, with fallin', it lends itself to pretensions slowed-down versions of the song. {off soap box}
I'd write a lengthy breakdown of the chicks but to me there's only three that matter: Pia, Thia and Kendra. Kendra's performance was good but a little shaky at moments while Pia and Thia were both absolutely flawless last night. The others? Ashton and Lauren Turner are still lurking around there in my book. As for the others, the five I mentioned are the only ones that have a prayer of winning. On a side note: I didn't care for Karen's performance of 'Hero'. The judges emphatically praised it (not surprisingly), but aside from signing a verse in Spanish it was sung EXACTLY like somebody that possesses 6/10's of the talent Mariah has would do it. I only point this out because of Randy's repeated "Take a song, make it your own" thing that he keeps preaching. I guess singing a verse in Spanish and skipping the high notes is her expressing her individuality.
baller, You not impressed with Lauren Alaina?? I think that not only can she sing but she has a definite presence about her. She has the total package - looks, singing ability, presence, and marketability.
Ahhh, forget about her. Yeah, she's good too. Definitely in the hunt. I agree her voice is legit and she seems to be the total package. Maybe I forgot because I didn't particularly care for her performance last night. It was decent but nothing special. Nothing compared to Pia and Thia's from last night.
I will be boycotting Idol if Julie Zorrila dosen't get through Yea she didnt do so well last night, but shes soooo hot
Lauren Alaina is a girl's girl. I am not surprised that she got a spot. She is the type of girl that other girls like to hang out with.
As of this moment, for the girls, I am guessing that Kendra has to get the spot. Asthon (sp?) was strong and Naima is doing well but I felt Kendra was just better. Will be interesting to see who they pick for the last guy.
I am shocked that Jovanny got picked to sing for the guys. Robbie doing well but I am still leaning towards Stefano. Also surprised that both Brett and Clint are going home.
Who cares - that video was hard on the ears. I wasn't shocked that they actually went with 3 as I had heard somewhere that was the plan. I felt that Kendra got robbed and was better than Ashthon and clearly better than Naima. Would have liked to seen another guy get in but I didn't think Jovanny was good enough and was never a fan of Robbie so they did get it right with Stefano.
They know stefano has mad vocal skills. I still think that Robbie is more interesting than many of these, but when you rely on your phrasing against people that are going big, it is hard to set yourself apart. For the most part, they got it right though.
They both got through because there weren't any black girls in the top. In order to keep some minority happy you got to do what you gotta do.
