Maybe i've only read parts of this thread, but i'm surprised no one has taken the "but but buttt...if you're not doing anything illegal it shouldn't bother you" position.

The way it would work is if everyone, EVERYONE, if they pick up GPS instead of guns. You'd need a good 40 year adjustment for life being absolutely completely predictable and miserable, but sterile and safe. If its the will of the people that wants it, and private sector businesses offer it, what can you do. The people, misguided and scared as they are, they'd be speaking for themselves.

The thing is all this isnt based on any real rising threat. This is like taking extra precautions because humans haven't gotten rid of zits and moles. We only decided to be more conscious of zits and moles, and then start speculating about zits and moles. And more speculation, and even more speculation. And everyone's now all sensitive about zits and moles. And then making laws that people have to wash their face every morning and own antibacterial soap. The whole time people keep getting zits and moles at the same rate they've been getting them for centuries.

I just choose to look at it as a black and white issue. GPS stifling as it is can enable manageable living. I think its about ALL the tech out there. GPS is the floodgate opening. You either depend on all technology or you don't. Because rationale with GPS is based on humans being too flawed to control themselves. That we're born flawed and need to be fixed. My thought is how far do you go with that until you're not even human anymore. Why even have consciousness if its a sin to use it. Why not just be a living vegetable.

All this comes out of a policeman putting unwarranted tracking equipment on a car

Except that you could still argue that a cop could just hang out by an open window to try to ease drop. A bug just makes it easier too.

Another thing that just occurred to me. While you were driving on public streets there is no expectation of privacy but with this GPS tracker you could be tracked on private property too. So if you drove on any sort of multi-acre property with much of it not from the view of public access ways you could still be tracked.

If there was a reasonable justification, why couldn't they have just gotten the warrant?

I always wonder the range and the policies on the RFIDs in the toll tags. Seems like they could track you all over town with that thing.

I'm surprised they didn't report it stolen and arrest him with it.

Damn so if I write type the words "b*mb", "m*ll", "bl*wn", and "targ*t" I'll have the FBI after me? I think some members on here are probably being tracked;).......though I'm thinking AroundTheWorld has already informed the autorities on some of the "Islamists" on here.

I don't agree with the courts acting like the legislature. I've never understood why, when the courts do something, we suddenly act as though it's the law. Every case is different. The court is supposed to make decisions on a case by case basis. I don't think they should be making a decision about a particular situation that prevents the people from bringing their case before the court. Besides, in all cases I'd prefer the court err on the side of Constitutional liberties as opposed to empowering the state.

There is not enough cause to pull this kind of crap anymore.
The Patriot act was one thing... but this? No way.

Do you know where people buy or sell drugs or pick up hookers? Do you look like the kind of person who would, statistically? When you're trying to get somewhere do you steer clear of bad neighborhoods or just go where Garmin or Google Maps tells you to go, every single time?
