New Rasmussen poll out of WI voters this morning is devastating for gov Walker. Rasmussen devastating just a taste http://www.rasmussenreports.com/pub...ot_for_weakening_collective_bargaining_rights Among those asked about the state budget deficit, 52% supported the Democrats and 44% supported the Governor. Most of those 50 and over support the Governor, 40-somethings are evenly divided, and those under 40 support the Democrats. Among those asked about weakening collective bargaining rights, 56% supported the union and 41% supported the Governor. There is a similar age dynamic on this question, even though the overall level of support for the Governor is lower
Do teachers in Houston make over six figures of total compensation and can taxpayers afford that? . . . Share the wealth. Do your part Milwaukee teachers. Agree to collective bargaining on salary and not over the top benefits which created the unbalanced total compensation at taxpayer expense to begin with...
Why do the pollsters keep using the phrase "collective bargaining rights"> It will obviously skew the results. Collective bargaining isn't a right, atleast not one the federal government recognizes.
Yes..but a total compensation of over six figures for public school teachers (in Milwaukee, about 18% of the states teachers) is unbalanced in a state where the money is gone from state coffers and there is no way to make money just happen,...(shut up Obama),...so ultimately you balance by either taking corrective action or higher taxes...
I don't know? ask your god FLASHBACK: Ronald Reagan Called Union Membership ‘One Of The Most Elemental Human Rights’ http://thinkprogress.org/2011/02/25/flashback-reagan-union-right/
The teachers in Wisconsin have agreed to every single financial sacrifice they've been asked to make. If politicians can't tell a good deal from a bad one, it isn't the fault of collective bargaining. Faulting teachers because of weak politicians is just sad.
how much do police officers and firemen in milwaukee make in relation to their counterparts in other parts of the state? why not go after them as well, oh because they aren't scapegoats
If it isn't exactly right now, it may be soon enough...The complete aim is to control expenditures when income to the state has been squeezed by the economy...The Governor is being responsible by taking corrective action.
No, the "complete aim" is to destroy collective bargaining rights. The budget is a pretext, as evidenced by the fact that the union has agreed to the budgetary demands, but the Governor won't give up on the collective bargaining issue.
If Reagan thought collective bargaining was a human right, then why didn't he try to give federal employees collective bargaining rights? Most federal employees lost their bargaining rights under Carter, which was before Reagan. Why didn't the Democrats/Obama when they had control of the house and senate for almost two years? My guess is ThinkProgress is taking something way out of context (big shock to all of you I am sure).
