The second and third paragraphs in my post weren't meant directly for you. Hope you did not take them that way.
haha, nice catch but nah, it's supposed to be a blend of old school new school. And when you said shirt, I think you meant spacesuit.
No problem at all and I am glad I inspired someone to try their hand at this. That said pretty good! I read your comments in the earlier post and might take another crack at this when I get some time later.
I think I liked your earlier versions better as another poster said I think the yellow to the left of the R looks a little odd plus I the "Houston" doesn't read as well as the earlier versions.
I wasn't sure if they were addressed to me but no problem and I wasn't offended if that is what you were thinking. Like I said as someone who works in design this has been a lot of fun and I appreciate the feedback.
Here's a few variations I used on Paint. The home and away use the Grizzlies template. The two alternates use Rockets templates. One is a homage to our time in San Diego with red text for something different. The final uses our alternate in a blue departure. Text can be improved though. [/IMG]
^ Like the homage to the SD Rockets but the yellow on green, at least on my screen is a little hard to read. Perhaps a darker green like a Packers' green. The black jerseys look pretty cool.
Went back and punched up the red on the logo and jersey I was working on so it reads more as Rockets' red. Home jersey Road Alternate
You should try this one with the angled basketball/horizon (while keeping the launch vertical), so it doesn't look quite so balanced.
I agree that it looks a bit bright and maybe a bit like neon. I have made a few adjustments changing to a darker green and changing the bright yellow to gold. I have also tried putting the alternate in the same scheme. I want us to have a black jersey but it looks like the league won't let it happen. I like the alternate but we don't need two red jerseys. I like your last 2 logos, rocketsjudoka. Dunno if you've explained it in previous pages as I went straight to the last one, but what was the point of the spear breaking through the letter and half sphere? I think it looks nice and clean overall, simple. A little corporate, maybe from the sphere... but better than our current astronaut one.
It does look a little balanced. I do think the rocket shooting straight up makes you immediately think of shuttle launches and the like, and clearly gives you that rocket vision (as opposed to the diagonal one. I personally liked it when the H and R are stacked right next to each other, as I can see that on a hat, for example, real easily. On the basketball, I think it would be neat for it to simultaneously be a basketball and the sun or moon or something like that, again reinforcing the rocket image. or maybe instead of a 2 dimensional circle, you make it more oval-like, like the rings of Saturn or something, trying to give it more of a 3 dimensional feel...but somehow keeping the basketball image as well??? or maybe instead of the basketball it becomes an asteroid belt. just random thoughts. overall, i think something like this is the direction to go, as opposed to modernizing the early 90's logo - great, we won championships in it, but its difficult to really even call it a logo - it's just a basketball with the team name.
rocketsjudoka, on your earlier versions I couldn't help but seeing the bow-n-arrow each time. It had to do with your angling of the "bow" with the Rocket path being a straight-line (arrow). To combat that, you may want to mix up the path of the Rocket. Instead of it being linear, maybe make it have some curves, etc. Your design looks pretty cool, but I fear it's too modern to garner serious consideration for a new jersey.
Thanks, i think the black / dark grey is an important part though. It wouldn't look as modern or catchy with a navy blue replacement.
