There will be a line. My guess? 30 people minimum.

Apple again asserts its dominance on the tablet market. Just when Android seems to catch up in terms of hardware, Apple destroys them with their apps and usability, which is still top notch.

It will be a year before there is any legitimate competition for the iPad.

If you want it in a timely manner, Id suggest being at the apple store no later than 2 pm.

Anyone know what the order limit per person is for in-store pickup?

Huh...just realized one aspect that had been bouncing around the rumor mill that wasn't mentioned - there was talk of doubling RAM to be 512MB....is it staying at 256?

Original iPad sees a $100 price drop across the board.

All said, I may hold off and decide what I want to do later. A lower pricepoint 7in wifi mini-iPad/mega iTouch may still win me over, especially if it gets the HDMI out cable so I can stream Netflix/Hulu to my TV.

Steve Jobs has said he utterly despises a 7" screen.

    Maybe it's 6-, not 7-inch

For me, personally, the iPad price point remains high for what is, in my view, a big screen Touch with an added $30 data plan. Same for the Xoom, being fair. To me, these are still disposable cash toys for the most part, and I don't know that I want to pay 4x the price of a top shelf smart phone for 2.5x the screen size. Especially when Motorola is moving toward a SMART idea of letting their high end Droid phones dock/power a laptop shell.

6 inch Touch would be perfectly good for me watching movies on a flight, playing Angry Birds (St Patty's update coming!), or whatever. If it can also output HD from a Netflix/Hulu app, than it's doing everything I'd want from the iPad....hopefully at half or 2/3rds the price.

So how much do you guys think I can get an original iPad for when the iPad2 comes out. Would Ebay or Craigslist be the cheapest place to get it? Any other suggestions.

The original iPad functionality is enough for me, but $500 is much more than I want to spend.

I'm interested in a 'fell off the back of the truck', no questions asked iPad. $200 firm.

Apple's already dropped the price across the board by $100, refurbs by $150 (vs original new price).

Browse around and see in the next couple of weeks when upgraders look to dump their originals.

Keep an eye on Woot.com. They had the Ipad 32gb wifi-3G for $479 last week.

That is a bs price that cannot be compared to actually buying the phone.

The thing i most respect about the iPad is there is no subsidy price and thus no contract for the data plans.

    Were you expecting more?

There weren't really any surprises today.

It's the prices I decide between paying - I'm not in the habit of purchasing unsubsidized phones, and there's no subsidy option for iPad. All I care about is what's coming out of my wallet. It is nice that you don't get locked in to iPad for two years when there's an annual generation upgrade.

IIRC, Apple stock rarely moves after these presentations.
