Yeah but...THIS season? What do you want this season, Jay? We're either stuck with a mid round pick....or mid round pick AND playoffs. SURELY, you'd like to see us challenge the SA sputs...they WILL be the 1 seed.
Well it wasn't too long ago where we were 5 games behind the Utah Jazz and 5 games ahead of the 10th seed holder. Getting in the top 10 and then trading up for possibly Irving or Jones is ideal for me. But obviously since then the Rockets have played much better and have separated themselves a bit from the lotto contenders so it's becoming pointless. I just wanted to say that there is nothing wrong with being pro-rebuild. It's just some of us can't get too excited about 8th seeds.
Not the 10th seed holder but the 10th lotto pick. Any ways since then the team has gotten younger, nothing wrong with a young team sneaking in the playoffs. That can be seen as a accomplishment.
It's no secret I've been critical of management...I still am. But I'm done talking about it until the end of the season. I want the Rox to make the playoffs and I'm having fun watching them try. They're beginning to remind me of one of my favorite Rockets teams of all time, the 1990/91 squad. That team had an injured Hakeem down the stretch, and they had to scratch and claw their way into the playoffs. On the last day of the regular season, they won the 8th spot. They were swept out of the first round by the Magic Johnson-lead Lakers....but I loved that team for busting their ass to get there.
It's too late for tanking to have any real meaningful impact. Make the playoffs and try to torpedo the aging, oft-injured Spurs with hustle and luck.
...don't we still hold the record for lowest seed to win the Championship @6th? Let's go for 8th, Clutch City.
I think we can (and need to) go 15-5 in our last 20 (basically we win all games against teams with a losing record, and snatch a decent few of the games against >.500 teams). That'll put us 46-36 with a win% of 56.1%. If we lose one more, and go 45-37 our win% would be 54.9%. Currently #7-Portland and #8-Memphis have win% of 55.0% and 54.8%. That'll probably be our benchmark for getting in. Stretching the margin for losses very thin. But have faith! I think we can do it.
Hell yeah Why would anyone in the organization even consider tanking anyway? They would lose respect from other teams, then slowly lose respect for themselves. Rockets got too much heart to bow down to anyone before the battle is over. Rebuild mode? All good. But let's turn some heads and kick some ass while we're at it.
Just curious... Why did you feel it was necessary for you to throw your two cents in when he asked all of you tank/rebuild haters to keep your comments out of the this thread? The rockets will make the Playoffs. I worked for the rockets during our last trip to the playoffs and it was the craziest thing i've experienced in my entire life. A ton of fun and we have the best fans in the NBA guaranteed. Even the playoffs as an 8 seed is more exciting than watching all the teams you hate so much playing for their chance at the ship. NBA is where amazing happens right?

It is really good to see that you are getting enthusiastic about the Rockets. You, SamFisher, HillBoy are pretty negative even before the season began, and to your credit, you guys were right about many things. Here is to a bright Rockets future!
Man its gonna feel so awesome if we make the playoffs, I hope we don't go out without a fight! i love how we have chemistry now i always knew AB was our problem he just didn't fit our team (ball hog)... i also believe that chase can play better than he did yesterday and if he does then we have a chance to beat anybody, courtney lee is a SOLID backup im glad we kept him. GO ROCKETS!!
I just wanted them to develop their young guys and begin the rebuilding process, they have and so I'm happy. These last few games have been great and have me believing in the playoffs again. Not to concerned about draft pick because I firmly believe Morey will trade up into the top 5 anyway so win on boys!
I just want the boys in RED to win. That's it. I'm not going to talk about my frustrations at this point...I'm having fun watching these guys play. I woke my older boy up with, "get up...you gotta go check the Rockets highlights before you go to school!"
