I would say out of the 43 atheists I've met, 41 fall in this category. The other 2 were gay. Let's delve into the traumatic childhood experiences and feelings of alienation, isolationism, and frustrations that cause them to have any real soul, belief or sex appeal.
Don't project your low standards into my thread. I'm an agnostic, tell me why it's better to be an atheist? What makes you so passionate about not believing in anything? Do you find protractors sexually appealing?
All agnostics are atheists, not all atheists are agnostic. Agnostics believe that the answer to a question is unknown or unknowable, so if you believe the answer to the question of "is there a god" is "i don't know"... then... I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you are one of the sexually frustrated nerds
What? I don't know or salute any certain deity, or higher power, but I believe there is one. I don't think any atheist would agree with that. If this is your attempt to make atheists look catty, then you have succeeded my small friend.
you couldn't tell that by his obvious attempts at over-compensating for his lack of real-life social successes with his posts on clutchfans?
Excellent analysis Barthalomew. Would you like to add a graph to that statement to solidify your stance?
you're making fun of the wrong people. you should be in the GARM making fun of stat-geeks...use lots of Tron references, cuz that's how i roll. it's lots more fun.
I don't think any agnostic would agree with that either. An agnostic would say they don't know, or can't know, the question to whether a god exists. So, you're not really agnostic. You're just some kind of weird, non-denominational theist. Sounds like you're straddlin' the fence in case a holy war breaks out. Pansy, pick a team.
I've noticed only 1 person voted themselves as an atheist... are the rest embarassed? Figure 1 A. (for the atheist) <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/UVSIPHQdQT0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> What goes through your mind when you hear music like this? Anger, loneliness, hatred for the person with real meaning in his life? I'm just so curious.
I've already made a ton of Durvasa jokes and got some vitriolic neg reps from one of the mods... and I'm an anti-Morey guy because of his incessant need to constantly tinker, overmanage, overthink and create an "honorable" but mediocre team as a result.
Can't watch yootoob at work, but i'll humor you. You think someone needs a deity to have purpose? Feel joy? Be happy? Attain enlightenment? Have emotions period maybe? That's pretty sad, bro. Man, I must be really bored to be taking troll bait this early in the day. I miss the old Ronny, he was a lot funnier before he started dabbling in philosophy.
And here we have a classic case of an atheist projecting his insecurities and lack of penile girth. Look at me everyone, I've picked a side. I got 4,000 Cuban soldiers sitting on the border waiting to snipe my ass. We live in a world where we have boundaries, and these boundaries are guarded by men with guns. Sounds like the average owner of a Hummer to me. Save us the charade, kid. Most agnostics I know believe in spirituality but don't believe in a specific deity or religion. Why do you, as an atheist, find that difficult to believe? Which begs the next question, how many atheists drive hummers?
No, definitely not. I think kids are the happiest people on Earth, often for no reason, and it's still beautiful to me. But it's the source of your purpose and the often vitriolic need to remind those who are spiritual that you're "smarter than them" , " more logical than them" that makes me create topics like this. Often times it's just to rebel from the religious nuts who believe they're better than people who don't follow their religion. As I've grown older, I've been through various life experiences, met people from all walks of life, and found that if you do not have spirituality, the forces that bind you to others, ie, your ability to be intimate, just don't have the realness and rawness of those who accept they are not worthy in the face of some all mighty man up there. It just doesn't feel real and you come off as rather plastic.
It's not hard to believe, people do that little non-committal spiritualistic tapdance all the time. Mostly those disaffected by some major religion, or those who were raised in california by hippie parents in the breakroom of an old record store. What is hard to believe, however, is why someone would want to be agnostic (i.e. "not knowing") and yet still claim there is a god/deity/whatever. It's like basically admitting to yourself that "yeah, my beliefs are pretty much baseless horsepoop, but i'm cool with it, cause that's how my non-denominational spiritual lovin' self ROLLS!" I guess I don't really see the point in "believing" in something if I don't know it to be true (everyone's criteria for "truth" is different). And at that point, it isn't really agnosticism anymore, since you are no longer subscribing to the idea that something cannot be known or is unknown (i.e. "knowing" god exists). It's like the diet coke of agnosticism.
