First it was trading the starting PG on a 50 win team for a backup on a lottery team 2 years ago.

This time, we trade away the heart and soul of the team for a 7'3 reconstruction project. Then we trade away supposedly the ONLY guy on the entire team who can create a shot for himself, our ONLY closer, for another backup PG on a lottery team. We are DEFINITELY tanking now, right?

How is it that we are now playing the most inspired ball of the year? The schedule? No. The soft part starts AFTER tonight's game.

Daryl, STOP TOYING WITH OUR FEELINGS!

Kyle = Heart, Chuck = Soul, Shane = Brains, Luis = Grit.

We lost some brains with Battier's departure, but the other 3 make up for it.

Morey either is the most cunning general manager in the league or he is the luckiest. All of these risky moves have paid there dividends in the past. I think he saw that Brooks was killing chemistry this season which he was. He also saw that we could not afford Battier's lack of offense (despite the fact he can get hot) in the line up with Hayes starting at center. I don't know if Goran or Thabeet will pay off as much as Lowry did but it should be interesting to see.

We lost some "brains" with Battier, but we also lost AB.

    Net brain up!

First you jinx Chase Budinger and now you are trying to jinx the entire team?

Everyone's role is now clearly defined and the guys aren't worrying about moving their families after the deadline. We can say that they should be professional and how they should understand it's a business but these guys are human, the constant trade talks had to have been killing them.

At least brains you can teach to others. It'll be kind of like JVG leaving, we'll still have what he taught for awhile. And definitely nice to get the young guys more PT.

He gave his reasons during the media session for why he made the trades he made. I don't think there was some hidden agenda to it. We weren't able to make the big move that we wanted to make, and he figured that Brooks and Battier were both expendable. The trades allowed the Rockets to cut some costs, add a few future draft picks, and a couple of players that might pan out to be a significant contributors in the future. He is a big believer in Lowry, which has been obvious since last year, and I do think he was comfortable handing the keys to the team to him. It won't stop him from going after Chris Paul in the offseason, though.

It helps to get past the pre-trade deadline uncertainty; now the young players can play hard without worrying about whether they are being showcased.

When one man wields such power, it comes with great responsibility. Thanks for the reminder, I will use it with caution from now.

seems like its a bit of both they probably did not want to lose battier but it was a necessity to make room for Lee and williams to play and give Bud a better shot

trading brooks was a no brainer the guy took a leap back this year and was effecting chemistry and did not help the team win any games with his poor play this season.

i look forward to seeing how dragic does once he gets a bit more situated with his teammates and get some practices.

but the improved play IMO has to do with Lee getting more minutes and Bud playing the best stretch of basketball this season.

I dont always agree with Morey but I dont think I could do the same type of job he has done i mean i think its funny when some people feel he doesnt know what he is doing, there is always a reason why he makes the trades he does and he probably has more info than we can possibly even imagine on the players he is trading and trading for.

of course as great as tonight's win was it will mean nothing if they lose tmorrow against the clippers.

I think trading away Battier/Brooks is analogous to trading away Rafer.

    They have a hate/love relationship with Rafer/Battier/Brooks.

Rafer: The floater, terrible shooting vs competent point guard.
Battier: No offense 90% of the time vs leadership and defense
Brooks: No defense, little point guard skills vs scoring skills?

When a love/hate relationship exists, it means that the player is not a good fit in your team.

You fill in chase at shane's and you have less brain but more offense. The defense minus shane looked great tonight but I know that is a super tiny small sample.

Chase's 14 and ability to draw defenders away from the other 4 guys on the floor really helps. There's no cheating on the other side anymore and really opens things up.

If Brooks was the Brooks of last year, or if Manu didnt injure him, he might not have gotten traded.

Battier trade is definitely incomplete. Addition by subtraction if anything.

The trade deadline has passed; no one is looking over their shoulder anymore. Weight lifted.
