Man this video made me cry......what a guy

If you just watch his audition it wasn't a big deal but this song just bring it all out, I wish the best for them. They will certainly do a lot better after Idol

Ok the article is a little biased calling his exit a complete shock and that he has tremendous stage presence and dynamic vocals. Little bit of an exaggeration there. Plus it's factually incorrect when it refers to Julie as his wife. How could it get something like that wrong?!

The single though is actually pretty good ...very touching and emotional.

So the question is...would he have had that opportunity had he gone farther in the show and even won? When you get to the point in the competition where you have no creative control at all, would he have had the chance to make this single?

From this interview , sounds like he got what he aimed out to do (partly at least).

Holy crap....Scotty McCreery could have a country album right now...his voice is so dead on I just can't believe it.

The country singer is pretty impressive. I was skeptical but wow.

Paul McDonald, YOU are the next American Idol!

Someone give the judges a script. At least Ellen was funny.

I'm rooting for James Durbin, how can you not pull for that guy. Crazy talent a lot of heart, overcoming Tourettes.

C Abrahms is another one, mad talent. Hopefully he goes far.

This typically isn't my thing, but I appreciate it because it's hard work and I'm passionate about people and their music.

    Jacob Lusk Wow!

My thoughts on the top 12 guys tonight:

Clint Gamboa - I still think he is an obnoxious twit but damn, can he sing - did a great job with Superstition

Jovanny Bareto - so-so performance of a mediocre song, IMO ("I'll Be"), would not be surprised to see him gone

Jordan Dorsey - he sang some R&B song and wasn't that good - hopefully his obnoxious ass will be gone Thursday

Brett Loewenstern - although I am not a fan of him, I will admit that he made "Light my Fire" his own and he should advance

Tim Halperin - he gave a forgettable performance - not good.

James Durbin - Holy **** - he sang a Judas Priest song and actually kept his own with it in "You Got Another Thing Coming"!!!! Maybe the performance of the night and he actually kept the screaming somewhat restrained, lol.

Robbie Rosen - this guy has the biggest nose I have ever seen - even bigger than Jimmy Durante! Not that I am a homo, but he wouldn't be a bad looking guy if it wasn't for the nose. Anyway, he did "Angel" by Sarah McLachlan which was a very curious choice. I think he can sing but wasn't a fan of this performance.

Scotty McCreery - ah yes, the one guy that I cannot stand but I have to make a confession...he is growing on me and I have to admit he has a great, tailor-made country voice. Didn't recognize the song (of course) but he did a great job with it. He might make it to the final 5.

Stefano Langone - he sang a Bruno Mars song (which my daughter pointed out that he started on the 2nd verse), "Just the Way You Are". Compared to the others, I thought he did pretty good. He should advance, IMO.

Paul McDonald - he sang "Maggie May" by Rod Stewart. I don't get this guy at all. I like people that don't have the greatest singing voices like Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips, etc. and I just cannot get into liking this dude at all! Was not a fan of the performance either.

Jacob Lusk - he absolutely killed the late great Luther Vandross' "A House Is Not a Home" - one of the best performances of the night.

Casey Abrams - YAY, Casey is okay after his stomach issue!! He does "I Put a Spell on You". If you get past the fact that he looks like he could be related to Will Ferrell AND Seth Rogen, you will fall in love with this guy. He does an outstanding job and makes the song his own. He has to be one of the early favorites to win it all.

Rankings from 1 to 12 with 1 being the best and 12 the worst:

    1 - Casey Abrams
    2 - Jacob Lusk
    3 - James Durbin
    4 - Stefano Langone
    5 - Clint Gamboa
    6 - Scotty McCreery
    7 - Brett Loewenstern
    8 - Robbie Rosen
    9 - Paul McDonald
    10 - Jovanny Bareto
    11 - Jordan Dorsey
    12 - Tim Halperin

Dear God no. If he does win, he'll be even worse than Taylor Hicks. :p

Robbie Rosen was the most unique in the song phrasing, despite what Randy said about his pitch problems, I actually think his version of Sarah's song was better, in terms of phrasing.

Obviously Casey is a different breed, the guy has a bass player's sensibility in his songs that translates well.

And that Lusk guy has crazy vocals. Nobody else stood out for me.

    1) Scotty McCreery (nailed his song...Randy Jackson was spot in that McCreery is old school country; will probably struggle later on during the theme nights)
    2) Casey Abrams (passion is undeniable;and he's something different)
3)Brett Lowenstern (the guy might as well have performed with the girls but he made the song his own)
    4) James Durbin (he did well but his screams are obnoxious and forced, like he's trying to emulate Adam Lambert too much; plus he comes off like a douche)

Everyone else was mediocre to complete garbage...half the group easily sounded karaoke ...and this is one of those moments where I wish Simon were here to go off on them. They make it to the top 24 and this is the best they can do?!

You know I am not saying this only to you but what I quoted is something I am hearing from a lot of other people. They are all saying that Durbin is an Adam Lambert wannabe. I see Durbin as more of a rocker than Adam Lambert and I am guessing you didn't really watch his performance because he really did tone down the screaming compared to what he has done in the past.

I didn't get durbin either. He has no clue how to deliver a performance. It was like .....wait for it ..... wait for it ..... high not NOW .... song over.

Plus, when you do a song that was really meant to be done with a band it makes the entire performance look ridiculous.

I mean there were obviously worse people than him, but he was pretty band. And besides the only Adam Lambert high note shtick was played out when Lambert was on the show, and shavon magnus did it better than both in my opinion.
