Kein Martin just said on Rome, "I did not want to be the number one option"... Sucks that he has been forced into that role...
Yea that link works and hes on right now...Hope he stays in houston for a good 5 years or retire as a rockets i have faith in this guy...pretty much a lay low superstar..average almost as KObe and melo etc
Man, Kevin making Rick sound like a dick. Adelman really is tough on young players. "Be ready to play overseas" DAMN!!!
Talking Points: -Losing Yao was stuff. Kevin Martin looked forward to playing with him and wanted to be the number two scoring option, not first. -Missing Battier was tough but knows young players like Budinger and Lee will step up their game. -Sacramento's rumor on speculation of moving out -Not pissed off on the all star snub -Like living in Houston and came because of Adelman and his staff -Says Adelman was tough on him during his rookie year. Made him stay after practice learning game -Talked more about his Western Conference achievement
truee...but you know just gotta learn when you come to the nba..but look wheres he at now..and averaging way better then before..isn't this his CAREER average?
JR: Win POW, you came out fresh. Did the AS break help you? KM: big part of it. i was worn out. everybody looks forward to that break. JR: really big 1st half. not quite an all star, did you feel that you got snubbed? KM: no, tough to make it in WC. gotta have a good record. JR: tough to lose Yao. disappointed? KM: Very. wanted to play with him at his best. didn't want to be a #1 option. JR: battier and brooks were traded, getting backups in return? How did you feel about that? KM: tough. leadership with shane is like a superstar, doesn't come around often. i remember getting my opportunity as a young player - now it's time for chase and courtney. licking their chops with the trade. should be a good thing. JR: what is it about battier? Everyone loves him. KM: always studying the game. knows every move that everyone is going to do. very non-controversial. great guy. very smart. hard to replace. JR: is SA the team to beat? KM: Predicted spurs vs ??? WCF (it cut out here on me) JR: what about kings moving? KM: no idea about the possibility, just rumors. kings are the only show in town. i think it would be devastating. JR: how about living in Houston? KM: Great. Petri put me in a great situation. Learned a lot under adelman my first couple of years. Houston has been tremendous. Yao thing has been tough. JR: First couple of years were not easy, a real challenge. KM: He (Adelman) broke me down. I would sit 6 or 7 games after a good game. He always made me stay after practice to learn the game/offense. Left off playoff roster. Was in the gym all summer with Elston Turner. Also my PT, David Thorpe. Have to work for everything. JR: Was it Thorpe who asked if you were ready to go overseas? KM: yeah, I was still under contract. He told me i would go overseas if I played the way I was playing. I figured I better get it together. JR: About labor/work stoppage. You never get caught up in the money/fame. KM: ??? has been great, giving us books, etc and talking about saving money.
